This is meant to be humorous. I contacted Logan because I was so impressed with his "vacuum haul" I thought I would do a parody on it. So, without any further disclaimers.....

Thanks for letting me have some fun!

Actually, these are recent EBay items. Some of them are things no one else wants. The Lux XI however, I bid on rather heavily. I usually don't go overboard. You can tell by the stuff in these pictures and others I've posted the condition of machines I buy or obtain so I can restore them. Got my hands full this time!!! I am quite proud of my XXX hose. Of course there's more suction around the hose then at the end, but it looks good. I did get a suction control that I had wanted since seeing it on Charles' Web Site. So many of you have posted such nice pictures of your great machines that I wanted to do this to show my "before" stuff. Thanks again for letting me do this and look at Logan's thread. Thanks, Logan.

This machine was not included in the

dumb part of this tread. Mr Martin Rocha gave this machine and tools to me. I am very proud of it. When it is finished it will be named the Martyversal in his honor.

To me, the "Martyversal" is among the most beautiful of all American tank vacuum cleaners.

One more thing...

Rick, how do you keep that pick up truck so clean? And I thought I had high standards! :-)

Post# 32654 , Reply# 26   2/19/2008 at 17:52 (5,904 days old) by crevicetool (GA )
Logan...

Getting that one lousy picture of that truck about killed me. It was off the road about 300 feet and I had to make four trips (uphill both ways)! Then try explaining to the owner what the hell I was doing----

Alan-What Kitty?

Michael-you bet! That Universal is getting the whole treatment. Rechroming, Rebuilding, Repainting. And yes it will be that color.

Mike, the original motor was replaced with a Lamb unit and will not be able to return to an original Universal motor. After I get it finished, I'll know how powerful it is. I almost don't care, it is such a unique design, I'll just look at it when it's done anyway.

Enjoyed this thread and almost fell out of my chair laughing! Must have been a lot of work just setting up the pictures!! Is the older Lux a model XI? Looks better than the XII-A that I got last month. I know what you mean about the lack of suction on that one. The tag on my XII-A says the motor is only 350 watts, and I'm sure the XI isn't any higher.
Jeff

Post# 32770 , Reply# 31   2/20/2008 at 15:28 (5,903 days old) by crevicetool (GA )
Jeff

The tag on the XI says it's 230 watts. The can is also smaller. I don't know how it compares to the V, but it's about 5 and 7/8" diameter. The XII is about 6 and 1/2" Chances are I will never own a model V, so when this one hit EBay, I just kept at it till I got it. I has no cord, no bag, but it does have the bag ring and filter. I'm going to have to research this model quite a bit before I tear into it.

Here's a picture of my XII

I didn't think to take too many pictures of it in it's before state. But this is the end product. I actually have all the tools for this minus the hose. I even have the Vaporizer. The Bakelite connector on the front of the machine was designed to except later (XXX and after) hoses.

Beautiful XII, Rick!!

I doubt if my XII-A will look anywhere near that good when I'm done with it, but I'll do the best I can. Scroll down to the thread "Latest Acquisition" and you'll see that I have my work cut out for me!! Only have two of the original tools but hope to get the rest eventually.

Hey Rick

Great job on the XII - do you want one of the original threaded connectors for it? I have a couple of extras.
