I was looking on eBay for some fantom vacuum when I found a Fantom Thunder. The Thunder looks like its in good condition except that the bottom cord wind broke off and was taped together. There are also no attachments that come with it. The starting bid is $49.99 plus $53.19 shipping. On the other hand there is a Fantom Fury LE that is in good condition too. It comes with all of the attachments and has free shipping. The price of it is $89. The only thing wrong with it is that theres a hole crack in the plastic wheel but everything else is good. So guys which Fantom should I buy? The Thunder or Fury?

Hrrmmm..

Personally, I would wait for a nicer Thunder to come along. A Thunder with imperfections is NOT worth $103.18. However, i'd take a Thunder over a Fury (that one isn't a Limited Edition by the way, that was just a special color for Walmart.) The Thunder is built better, cleans better and is simply a better vacuum overall. If the Fury is in excellent shape, i've seen worse for $89. From what i've learned, don't jump in the first time you see something you want. It's worth it to pay for a truly NICE Fantom. They are more uncommon now than they were a couple years ago, but still are not impossible to find. Don't forget, the risk of buying on ebay, to start. From an avid Fantom collector, good luck! -Mitchell

Hey floor-a-matic I just noticed right now in your profile picture, nice Federal Signal STH-10. Are you a siren enthusiast?

Wait so FantomFan. Just wait until a nicer Thunder comes up on Ebay?

I would say so.

fantomfan's profile picture
There are plenty of nice ones out there. Given the price of this one, I think it's worth the wait. If you really want this one, you can always try to make an offer, and see what they say.

What about the orange Fantom Fury?

Post# 329280 , Reply# 8   7/14/2015 at 19:16 (3,207 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
I can't say which one you should choose.

fantomfan's profile picture
The Fury is cheaper, and in better shape. The Thunders are better cleaners though. See what you think of each.

Nice floor-a-matic! Where'd you get the 2001 from? And FantomFan If I do happen to buy the Fantom Thunder do you have some Thunder parts that you could sell?

Sorry..

I keep my fantom parts... since they are getting harder and harder to find.

Hmmmm. I'll probably get the Fantom Fury then. I have a Amway ClearTrak which is kind of the same as the Thunder except the ClearTrak has a pre motor filter and it has a 8 amp motor.

Post# 329342 , Reply# 13   7/15/2015 at 15:55 (3,207 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
Interesting..

fantomfan's profile picture
I've never owned an Amway. From what i've heard, they did not clean as well, and had a much weaker motor. I can't say which one is better until I get one though.

Post# 329350 , Reply# 14   7/15/2015 at 16:41 (3,207 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)

You should get a Amway ClearTrak. They still sell the ClearTrak for $299 of this website www.cleartrak.com... . Also if you look on eBay right now you can find a Amway ClearTrak for sale. But you have to bid for it and its about $24 right now. The main difference of the Amway vacuum is that they had pre motor filters and no lights like the Fantom. But either though that it didn't have good suction power, its a really good deep cleaner. I have a cat that sheds fur like crazy but the Amway picks it right up.

Hey an update...

I just saw on eBay that theres a 10 amp Fury for $75.00 plus $40.00 shipping. Its in a bit better condition than the fury just some light scratches on the surface. But it comes with no accessories. Should I get this fury?

Post# 330729 , Reply# 16   8/1/2015 at 17:00 (3,190 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
Here is another one..

fantomfan's profile picture
It ends tomorrow night:
Silver/Green Fantom Fury from 2000. No attachments. Decent shape. Listed as a "Phantom." Decent shape, it might be missing the headlight lens,I cannot tell. It's only $9.99 plus shipping to start. Not bad at all for a functional Fury.

Amway...

fantomfan's profile picture
AmwayCleartrak, I actually won that auction for the Amway you were talking about. It is NOS, only turned on twice and never used to vacuum. I was very close to losing the auction but I put in a higher amount and won. I payed WAY too much for this Amway, but i'm happy to have a new-old-stock vacuum. It's an OK cleaner, comparable to a Fantom Fury, but it might clean carpet slightly better than the Fury. Suction and noise wise, they are about the same. I DO like that you can easily clean the entire cyclone assembly. But, the cyclones don't filter nearly as well as the Fantoms so I need to watch the filters. I did put an insert on the bottom of the filter casing from a HEPA bag, so it filters much better now.

Nice!

Are you gonna make a video of you new Amway vacuum? Also how did you put a insert from a HEPA bag in the vacuum? Could you take some pictures because I wanna do this to my Amway vac.

Post# 330741 , Reply# 19   8/1/2015 at 19:25 (3,189 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)
Oh yeah one more thing!

I would recommend not taking the blue film off the front of the vacuum. It helps protect it from scratches.

Post# 330756 , Reply# 20   8/1/2015 at 21:24 (3,189 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
I'll take pics soon.

fantomfan's profile picture
I already took the film off, but it's not going to see much use. I don't have the ability to post a video right now, but I'll try once I have all my vacuums in one spot.

Post# 330759 , Reply# 21   8/1/2015 at 22:17 (3,189 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)
Watch out...

Hope you will enjoy your new ClearTrak. Also as a tip just make sure that you don't expose the vacuum to a lot of sunlight. The grey plastic including the blue cone assembly will yellow if exposed too much. This has happened to my ClearTraak and the yellow color just makes the vacuum look ugly.

Mine will be in my basement.

I just need to wait for the dehumidifier to lower the humidity. It will be down there with the rest of my vacuums.

Ok something just popped up on Ebay

Ok so right now on Ebay 2 fantoms popped up by the same seller. One is a Fantom Thunder with only one attachment and 2 pieces on the plastic broke. Its $89.95 but the shipping is $100 dollars. There is a Fantom fury LE thats $79.95 and the shipping is free. But I already bid on the $9.99 fantom fury. So should I buy the Fury which is $9.99 or the LE which is $75.95 but with free shipping?

Post# 330814 , Reply# 24   8/2/2015 at 18:38 (3,189 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
Go first for the one you bid on...

fantomfan's profile picture
You'll probably win one of them. They both are in decent shape. $76 isn't too bad for a Limited Edition Fury. The Special Edition seems to be less common than the Limited Edition.

Post# 330837 , Reply# 25   8/3/2015 at 11:42 (3,188 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)
Bad news...

I won the action for the Fantom fury for $9.99. The shipping was $36.00 so I was expecting to pay around $45.99. But then the seller emails me and says that the shipping is gonna be over $100! Especially when going to Hawaii. So I changed my mind and decided not to pay for the Fantom. The shipping is just WAY too much for me.

Post# 330839 , Reply# 26   8/3/2015 at 13:08 (3,188 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
Thats too bad.

fantomfan's profile picture
Sadly, unless you find one in Hawaii, you'll have to pay a LOT to have it shipped, no matter what vac it is, and where it's located. If you find one on the west coast, shipping may not be as expensive.

Actually

Thats very unfair of the seller to do, because it was listed at $9.99. But that is very unfortunate that you won't be able to get it :(

Post# 330874 , Reply# 28   8/3/2015 at 21:56 (3,187 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)
The seller didn't raise the price...

Sorry I didn't put it in a lot of detail, but he emailed me and said that the shipping to Hawaii was gonna be over $100 dollars. And he asked me if I wanted to cancel or buy the Fury. ):

Post# 330875 , Reply# 29   8/3/2015 at 21:58 (3,187 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)
):

I don't know what to do. Even the Fantom's with free shipping I will still have to pay for the shipping?

Post# 330892 , Reply# 30   8/4/2015 at 07:30 (3,187 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
It depends where you are.

fantomfan's profile picture
But, since shipment to Hawaii would require longer shipment across the ocean, it's always going to be more expensive to ship. If you look around for rates on a vacuum, about twenty pounds, in a box I'd say that's at least 1 1/2" by 4" or so, you might be able to find a cheaper rate in the future. I'm sure that eventually, a Fantom will turn up in your area. You could post a wanted ad on Craigslist.

Well...

I know that, and you are exactly right its just unfortunate thats all, because it will be hard to find Fantoms around you in Hawaii and like you said shipping would be very expensive

Sigh....

There was a Fantom cyclone XT that was on a Hawaii craigslist. But that was sold after a day it was posted. Also guys is the Kenmore Drytech rare? There is one on eBay right now for $150.

Post# 330987 , Reply# 33   8/5/2015 at 07:29 (3,186 days old) by FantomFan (Rochester, New York)
Well...

fantomfan's profile picture
I don't trust the one that is on ebay right now. They say the belt is "broken." It's a geared belt and it's hard to break. They are more rare than a Fantom Thunder or Fury, but given it's condition, $150 is steep. I think $100 is fairer for that. It isn't a regular vacuum. I'm not even sure if you can find a belt that will fit it! It's purpose is to dispense, scrub in and then vacuum up dry Capture powder. I have a Drytech, but i've never really used it, so I don't know how well it works.

Did Capture

Work good? It was always included in the Fantoms that you ordered from infomercials.
