Guess this answers the question about the Emdeko name on the Filtex's a while back. Here's a Compact with the Emdeko name on it on ebay so they must have been a rebuilder.

Nice sleuthing, Doug.

That was my query, I believe. As you see, the manual that came with my Filtex also has Emdeko printed on the cover.

Sorta the same as Metropolitan refurbishing Electroluxes, I suppose?

Yoicks!

"Sorta the same as Metropolitan refurbishing Electroluxes, I suppose?"

I hope with a little more attention to quality and originality.

At one time rebuilding and selling used machines was a thriving business. Now the junk isnt worth rebuilding. LOL - people pay $79.00 for a vacuum then wonder why it doesnt last the year.

Vacuum longevity.

Not only doesn't it last a year, it does a lousy job while it lasts.

Vintage is often best,
Dave

Interesting - So Emdeko was a private - door to door - company that Filtex and later IEC made machines for if I'm reading that correctly
