On Monday 6th July 2015 I bought a Dyson DC41 Animal off eBay!
It just required a hose and a clean. It looks really good! We dont have much carpets ATM due to house refurbishment and extensions taking place but it's enough. We vacuum like 2X a day with a trusty Dyson DC14 Animal and it does a very good job with it's 290 AW of suction.
We have the following flooring types I tried it on;
DOWNSTAIRS;
Tile floor
2X large area rugs (1 was textured and bumpy) and the other was just thin.
A kitchen rug with rubber backing
Area rug, medium pile, about 2 months old.
UPSTAIRS;
My bedroom with the thick American style carpet which is very hard to vacuum.
Large area rug and laminate flooring in another bedroom (the rug is thin & flattened)
Landing that has 10 year old burber carpet which is flattened down but looks new on the sides cos you wouldn't walk there

So, after the machine was cleaned out, I vacuumed the large area rugs downstairs and it did a very good job. When I was turning the vacuum I felt as if the handle had a crack in it somewhere, there wasn't but the wand was out.
Did a great job! On the tile floors I was going to pick up a large thing with the cleaner head and so I lifted the cleaner head off and it was like taking a magnet off a fridge. Yes, the suction was so powerful that the vacuum felt like a dirty air!

When I went into the kitchen to vacuum and do the rug, it was quite powerful. The moment I switched the vacuum on the kitchen rubber backed rug, the brushbar was agitating the carpet and the airflow was restricted, the suction motor was straining, wow. I didn't know the active base plate was so good at it's job! I then lifted the vacuum up, the mat came off the floor :O more than my DC14 origin with seals in the soleplate!

UPSTAIRS;
I used it in my bedroom first which was spotless because I had vacuumed with the DC14 on the same day. When I turned the vacuum on, after the first pass there was loads of surface dirt! No there was not a blockage, but that crap was from deep in the pile of the carpet, I thought going over the carpet with a dyson hose and using a DC14 Origin, applying pressure on the DC25 cleaner head
and vacuuming slowly was enough? I eventually got satisfied that the carpet was clean and I know this because there was so much dirt in the bin, like enough from a day's worth of vacuuming even though I had vacuumed just a few hours ago on the same day TWICE?

The burber carpet was another type of carpeting that was being lifted, the suction was so strong that it was quite hard to push but not really much.

The bedroom with laminate and area rug;
The Dyson excelled in the entire house including this room and when I decided to make it lift the carpet off the floor, it was actually sucking through the carpet and sealing onto the laminate floor from what I experienced, if I did it slowly it would come up and it was not easy and not difficult for the carpet to come away from the active base plate :)

Summary: I swore by my DC14origin, I doubted the DC41,I know you can see in the archives that I thought this vacuum was a pile of rubbish, and even the build quality, but in reality it's the best performing Dyson I have ever used and the build quality is so that nothing breaks :) It is a quality machine and I am so glad that I bought it, it's going to make a brilliant daily driver and I am pleased to own a Dyson DC41 Animal. No matter what carpet you have, the DC41 will cope with it most likely.

DC41 vs DC40: The performance of the DC40 is just a no no. It's a nice vacuum, good performance but the DC41 is way better in every single way except for weight. I love the Satin blue, The looks, everything!

I wanted and still do want the DC41 mk2, will be getting that soon hopefully and whjat I imagined the DC41 mk2 to be like was exactly what this DC41 was like so I imagine the DC41 mk2 must be so much better!.

So if you find a Dyson DC41 at a good price, RUN TOWARDS IT

I owe Dyson an apology for doubting the DC41, believing the Dc07 was the actual one with the strongest suction at cleaner head. Am I brainwashed or is the DC41 actually a superb machine?
PS I know I said this but the DC40 is TOTALLY different from the DC41. They are nothing alike performance wise, the DC41 is excellent for carpets. The DC40 is not really my cup of tea even though it's nice and light.Honestly, I would have a DC25 over a DC40 but DC41 over any other Dyson from DC01- DC40.

Seriously though, what a beast of a machine the DC41 is.
