A week ago I was just randomly looking around Craigslist for the CMS 1000. I clicked on a post where someone was selling hoses and tools for the CMS 1000. Everything seemed fine when I spotted something that I never seen before. There was a CMS 1000 VHS tape! I have never seen a VHS tape for a Amway vacuum and I never knew that they did have one. Well I bought the VHS tape and got a CMS 1000 manual for free. Just yesterday it came in the mail. Does anybody else have a CMS 1000 VHS tape? I wanna know if this VHS is rare or not.

I wonder why nobody has these CMS 1000 VHS tapes. Do you think they just threw them away?

Welcome! I'm not sure why they do seem to be so rare. Does yours play okay?

Mine plays fine as well. Very interesting to watch.

Anyone thought about conversion to mp4/posting video online?

I have wanted to for a long time, but don't know how to go about doing so.

It sucks that theres only 2 parts to the VHS tape. I wish they showed how to put the vacuum together....

Post# 328626 , Reply# 10   7/5/2015 at 08:50 (3,216 days old) by singingrainbow (Texas)

I think what they show is still really neat, plus there are numerous other older vacuums in it to see!

Thats great! Hey were the Amway CMS / ClearTraks dual cyclonic or single?

Post# 328745 , Reply# 16   7/7/2015 at 09:10 (3,214 days old) by singingrainbow (Texas)

They were dual cyclonic.

Scott. Do you mind if you could take a picture of your CMS 1000 and post it here?

Nice! I wish that Amway still made these vacuums. Either though that the motor and suction wasn't the best, it still did a wonderful job a cleaning. I have a cat and it sheds fur like crazy. The ClearTrak picks up all the hair with ease. Also something that I love about the ClearTrak is that it has a big canister. Hey does anybody else think that the Amway vacuums performed slightly better than the Fantoms?

Kinda neat that the cleaners are still available in a sense. Repair parts seem rather plentiful, too. Really cool!

@ John: I agree, ACCURATE vacuum history is paramount! Not erroneous claims by hacks that make it up as they go. Can't stand that!

I've seen that before on there website. They also have another vacuum called the Workhorse. www.cleartrak.com/cleartrak/workh... . I don't get what the difference is though, it looks basically like the ClearTrak but with a different name.

Hey talking about the Amway vacuums who here think that the Amway vac's were much better than some Fantom ones?

The Amway vacuums were NOT better than the Fantom cleaners. Fantom Thunder vacuums incorporated many things that had been invented by Mr. Dyson AFTER Amway stole his design. Remember, Amway stole the design of the dual cyclonic cleaner (the Cyclon) from Mr. Dyson in 1985. When Amway went to Bissell to ask them to copy the machine, and make it for the American market, the shroud had not been invented yet. This is why the Amway lets hair and fluff into the high efficiency cyclone, which lands on the pre-motor filter. The Amway did not have the instant change-over valve, nor did it have any type of post motor filtration (certainly would never have HEPA filtration). If you take the 1984 Cyclon, and give it steroids, while removing the floating nozzle and instant-change over valve, you'd have an Amway.

ACCURATE history is important. If you really want to know exactly what scam artists Amway is, read Mr. Dyson's autobiography "Against The Odds". He devotes an entire chapter to detailing what snakes Amway executives are and how they stole his design and patents.

As promised...

Pictures of both of my amway  (also known as scamway) CMS 1000's. I just got the one on the right today from a nearby collector.

I have read "Against the Odds" as well, it really is shameful how amway cheated Mr. Dyson. Their deeds also almost destroyed another licensing deal Dyson had going at the time.

I really like the machines for their historical value (the way I see it, it's still history no matter how ugly). They are interesting examples if early cyclone tech. The VHS tape was given to me by my local vac shop when I was around four, along with a bunch of other tapes, including fantom ones. That tape, along with the other fantom tapes really started my continued interest in cyclonic vacuums. I only really learned the conections they all had with eachother when one of the dyson reps at the 2002 VDTA show gave me a copy of "Against the Odds". Granted it wasn't untill years later that I read it (I just looked at the pictures!), then again I was six.......

My two cents ...

"Hey talking about the Amway vacuums who here think that the Amway vac's were much better than some Fantom ones?"

I had (still have, but no longer using) a 1996 Fantom Thunder that I bought the same year my Mom got her Cleartrak.

She's still using her Cleartrak. It gets a lot of use, but she takes such good care of it that it's still like brand-new.

I preferred my Fantom's instantly detatchable "wand". But I will say that the Cleartrak feels quite solid and well-built, made from a high quality plastic that very few manufacturers use.

Man those are some nice CMS 1000's you got there singingrainbow. Did they come with anything else? Also I don't like the word "scamway" as my parents are in the Amway Business still. My parents said that they used to have 3 ClearTraks. One at my house, one at my grandmas, and one at my dad's office. 2 of the ClearTraks got thrown away sadly because they broke and now theres only one left (which I currently have). When I brought the ClearTrak home from my dads office it was in partially bad condition. The belt had cracks and looked like it was gonna snap. There was no foam padding in the filter tray (also the filter needed to be replaced). And finally the brush roll needed to be replaced too. But after I got all the parts and the ClearTrak is in working order again. I might need to get new wheels for the ClearTrak soon.

Sorry, I only meant that term in regards to the whole deal with james dyson, where amway really did take his technology without his permission. I know several people who were in the amway buisiness and I have heard really good things about their current products. That's neat your parents are still with amway! I meant no offence. Sorry!

I actually prefer the clear trak design, smaller colection space for the secondary cyclone meant more capacity for the primary one, and a height adjuster (the cms 1000 can be hard to push at times).

I did get an original manual with the recent one and I think I have some genuine filters somewhere. I think it's neat that the parts are still easily available.

There was a some kind of ClearTrak magazine that I got with the CMS 1000 Manual. I can take pictures and post it on here Scott if you want. Also Amway does have some great products. Most of my house is products from Amway.

"Also I don't like the word 'scamway'"...

I'm fine with it.

My family and I are all former (majorly duped) and now recovering distributors.

The Amway corporation itself is rock solid and has amazing products (the laundry detergent is unequalled in my opinion). However, its tacit approval of allowing its "celebrity" distributors like Dexter Yager and Don Storms -- masterminds of the so-called "black hat" organizations tied to the company like tentacles -- running roughshod over their downlines via brainwashing and intimidation definitely gives this great American company a black eye.

Long Behold! The VHS that everyone has been waiting to see.

Here is the VHS guys. The video has static noise in it and the quality is decent, sorry about that. But anyways guys enjoy the video! Hope you like it.

Yup, same video I've been watching for years! Thanks for uploading it.

Does the tape have that static when played?

Most of the time no.

The VHS dosen't usually have static. Only right now when I put it into my grandmas VCR it made that static. I don't have a VCR but I have a TV with a built in one and theres no static when I put the VHS in.

Post# 329626 , Reply# 38   7/19/2015 at 02:27 (3,203 days old) by AmwayClearTrak (ㅤ)

Hey scott what are you gonna do with the 2 CMS-1000's? Are they just gonna be in your collection?

Post# 329640 , Reply# 39   7/19/2015 at 09:32 (3,202 days old) by singingrainbow (Texas)

One is going to be for use, the other for show. The one I've had for longer has a lot of small, seemingly fragile parts which made me not want to use it regularly. Now that I have the nicer one, I feel more comfortable using the other one.

If I decide to get rid of one, I'll let you know!

BTW, would it be okay with you if I try and uplaod my copy? Mine may not have the static when uploaded since I was going to use a different method.

Scott

Workhorse Vacuum

Somehow theres another version of the ClearTrak from WMJ Refurbishing. Its called the Workhorse. Basically the same thing as the ClearTrak except there are some modified parts. I just looked at there Facebook profile and heres what I found. www.facebook.com/WMJRefur...

Actually about the Workhorse...

I just learned from WMJ refurbishing that they own the rights to the ClearTrak vacuum now. So basically the Workhorse is a ClearTrak except with a new name.

Speaking of VHS...

Hey all! I have a ClearTrak that was my Grandmothers in wonderful shape. Original motor from 1991. I have the two VHS tapes that go with the ClearTrak. One was for showing the potential customer, the other is how to market the ClearTrak. I have the ClearTrak informative video on youtube. I have linked it below.
I also have the original manual and attachment box for it. Grandma kept everything! LOL
On a side note, I have personally ordered ClearTrak parts and what not from WMJ Refurbish and they are fabulous people to do business with.
