Thought I would start another question thread :P

Just to put it short n' sweet ~ mine is a tough one. I'm drawn between the Hoover Turbopower Boost U2716 and the Hoover Turbopower 1000 U2812 :/

Whats yours?

Yes Hoover is my personal favorite vintage brand if you hadn't of guessed haha :P

Well for me it's my Kirbys! I realize that they're not everybody's  cup of tea, but for me there's nothing like the feel of a quality metal vacuum in my hand. With my two G series Kirby's I can hear the brushroll beating the carpet at 3900 Rpm. That's how I know my carpet is being truly deep cleaned. I also love the sound of the powerful motor and the sound of the constant whoosh of air moving through the machine by that huge fan. It sort of sounds like a jet engine. And that's why I love Kirbys.

As for my favourite older brand of vacuum, I can't decide between Hoover and Kirby

The Rainbow D2 with Power Nozzle. You do not store the dirt in the cleaner. It does not lose suction. You can do any cleaning job around the house, including picking up liquids. It has no ongoing costs. Can't think of any other machine that is as versatile.

Kirby all day!

Can't choose between just one, I have three favorite Kirbys.

My favorite contemporary is my Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Edition. I love its power and its Delicate Switch, which cuts the motor to half power. Makes great for cleaning up hair from haircuts or manscaping, without tearing your skin off! I also really like results of its shampoo system. My carpets still look new(ish).

My favorite vintage model is between my Kirby 515 and Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50. I love their power, as well as their light weight and small profile. As uprights, they get into tight corners very well, under lots of furniture easily, and leave beautiful Kirby lines on the carpet. And they are way older than me!!! The 515 is a loud beast, while the Sanitronic 50 is more quiet yet performs just as powerfully.

Kirby!!!!!

Just give me  a HOOVER Convertible, and I'm a happy guy.

It would be the Fantom Fury! I owned one when I was a little kid. That thing was amazing! It was sleek, quiet and pulled out LOTS of dirt from our carpets! Its dual-cyclonic technology (licensed to Fantom from Dyson) used 2 powerful cyclones to capture dirt and debris.

Sadly, my parents got rid of the Fury when we moved out of our apartment in the summer of 2001. In addition, Fantom made some disastrous business decisions and ended up going out of business later that year. Nowadays, these vacuums are hard to find. Even finding a Fantom in excellent condition is rare!

And that's why I love the Fantom Fury. It holds a special place in my early childhood, and I truly feel that it is a masterpiece of a vacuum cleaner.

Aw bless, but hey atleast your mum has a Dc07 animal now! those came out in 2001 :P Its in good condition too, well done on keeping it so pristine!

I am a little confused as to why there are like millions of Dyson Dual cyclones (DC01-DC05 models) still in use and Fantoms are rare though, I mean th Dysons were brittle

Decisions, decisions. As far as cylinders go, that's any easy one. Sebo D4 every time.

For uprights, I would agree that the Electrolux 500/Twin style cleaner is hard to beat. I've always considered these to be the high point as far as uprights are concerned, with things starting to go downhill after that.

Thought this question has been asked before-he we go-Kirbys,Royals,Tacony tandem airs as favorite uprights,NSS M1 , Sebo D4, and Nilfisk as favorite canisters.

Well, considering I own four Kirbys (my grilfriend would say I own three as she claims the Heritage 1HD as hers) and two Electroluxes, Kirby win the popular vote. I love the sheer power of my three Kirby G series vacuums (two G6's and a G5) but their accessories leave a lot to be desired. For that reason, I also like the versatility and maneuverability of the Electrolux canisters. If I mix and match tanks and accessories, my favorite Electrolux combination for doing the carpeted areas would be my Super J (just because it's a little more powerful) with the PN1 and its teal telescoping wand on the PN4's plastic hose.

If I had to pare my collection down to the absolute bare bones (which I'm not going to do in the foreseeable future), it would consist of the above mentioned Electrolux combo along with the rest of the 1205's teal accessories and my Sidekick and the better of my two G6's and none of the Kirby accessories.

Electrolux 1205 (my top choice)
TriStar CXL (2nd place)
Rainbow D2 or blue eł

i'm really digging my concept one and heritage 2(even tho i haven't used it yet. LOL) i wish i could use my dirt devil MVP but it overheats too fast and it's brushroll is loud. my dream vacs that i would love are the royal power tank, dirt devil ultra mvp, eureka ultra and precision, and a kirby sentria 2 or kirby avalir

I would have to say my Eureka the Boss Smartvac. It's one of the few department store vacuums that I've used that is rather clog resistant and has great carpet agitation. The filtration is not bad at all. It's no Kirby but it's a top performer in my book.

I have so many!

I can't really choose one, but overall I would say to grab and use it would have to be an Electrolux model G.im using the Hospital G now.
