I'm sitting here working my grandma's garage sale and it's killing me to look and see if there are any vacuum cleaners. I won't buy them unless they're really clean and I can rebuild them. Has anybody ever found anything good garage sales, yard sales, etc.

I have found some really nice stuff at garage/ estate sales, vacuums and other vintage appliances included. The sales where they just empty the entire house are really good to look around in lol, especially if it's an old house.

After garage/garbage sale

I was given a new Heritage II with the small rug attachment, tools, rug renovator/shampooer for free because they didn't want to take it to the dump. I also got free a new Rainbow Blue 2speed new also before a garbage sale that was never used. Around here they price plastic vacs @ around $2-5 which our out for duration then carted to either the dump or one of the thrift stores.

I have found some great machines there. When I visit Tom

Anderson in N Canton,  there are great finds, as, sometimes,  the sellers worked at HOOVER.

Have found a few treasures at yard/ garage sales. My last H2 Legend, like new but for a brushroll bearing screech, ALL tools, $20. The whole trunk was full of tools and their boxes, still have the sander attachment, kinda cool. Wish I had kept it, I can't really use it, but liked that machine, it was so nice.

kriby g3

One time when we were driving when i was about six I noticed a Kirby sitting at the edge of a driveway. I told my mother who is a Kirby fanatic she told my dad to pull over. We found that it was a G3 and had all the attachments and shampooer. The handle and bag needed to replaced an it needed a good clean, but it ran good. We bought it and now keep it at our weekend home.

This was marked $30 then down to $20. We offered $10 and she said $15. I bought it. Just needed a new belt and a bag.

Yard sales, thrift stores, church rummage sales, etc., are always a bit like going fishing. Sometimes you go a long time without a nibble and other times you can't reel them in fast enough. One thing's for sure though, you won't find anything if you don't look and it pays to get there early before the deals are gone or wait until closing time when they're ready to strike a bargain to make that last sale of the day.

The yard sales last week were baby clothes, kid clothes and LOTS of well played toys.Only a couple of dirty, dusty low cost bagless machines-left them behind!Guess-try again next week. The vacuum place guy commented that around here-the older vacuums are often at the beach or resort homes.Folks who have those places-when they buy a new vacuum-they take the old one to the summer place.
