I've had my Dyson DC07 Animal for about 7 1/2 years, and I have never taken the cyclone assembly apart to clean it! So I decided to do it earlier this afternoon.
Before I took the cyclone assembly apart, I washed the filter along with the clear bin. Both were pretty dirty! Then I proceeded to clean out the cyclone assembly. I removed 3 Torx screws from the top, then SLOWLY lifted out the top part of the assembly, which had a long metal rod. Upon taking that piece off, I found the cyclones. They were CAKED with fine dust! Dyson does not recommend washing the cyclone assembly, so I took my Ridgid shop vacuum, plugged the hose into the blower port, attached the crevice tool and used it to blow out all of the fine dust in there! There was dust flying everywhere. Below are some before pics. |

I couldn't get all of the dust out, but at least this Dyson should perform like new. Later, I put it all back together.
