the switch has malfunctioned. Replace it. You can use a metal commercial switch. |

Most appliance manuals specify that the appliance should be turned off before unplugging the cord. I think it is because of the possibility of getting shocked. There have been times when I've unplugged the cord without shutting the vacuum or whatever off, and I see a white spark just as the plug is removed. These days, with everyone being 'sue' happy, I think manufacturers are trying to cover every possible legal issue. Gary |
