So recently I've been having a phase of being obsessed with water filtration vacuums, I've never seen or used one in the flesh, but they seem very interesting and different than the rest of my vacuums.

Now obviously, if I could I'd buy a Rainbow, they look really high quality and remind me of my other major passion, Doctor Who...EXTERMINATE! But I digress, I wouldn't be able to get one within my puny price range of 100 pounds, so I've had to settle for something more basic.

Now, I know WF Vacs are best when they have a separator, but all the separator vacs such as Sirena, Ritello, Delphin, Hyla and the rest are all over my budget, either way it's the concept of water filtration that interests me.

So up until yesterday I was going to buy a neptune on eBay, it was in ok condition but part of the turbo brush was missing. Then I found a Bissell Pro heat all rounder, it was local and was almost new, and it was only 10 pound more, so I'm going to pick it up on Friday.
I'm quite excited to use my first water filter vacuum. Maybe one day I'll get a rainbow, or something similar.

Have any of you used a Bissell pro heat all rounder, what are they like? Can water filtration be effective at all without a separator?

I have the Hydroclean (same as the one in Roger's unboxing video), which is exactly the same cleaner in a different colour. Bought it for use only as a shampooer, and for that it's great. Has external tanks with decent capacity, integrated solution feed line, and an onboard heater that gets the solution scalding hot. Cuts through heavy traffic lanes like the proverbial hot knife through butter, and leaves the carpet barely damp so its dries quickly. Very good on hard floors too, although in reality, it's far quicker and easier to use a mop unless you happen to have the machine out already.

As a vacuum it's OK, but the suction in this mode is a little underwhelming. I also think it's far too bulky and noisy to be practical for day to day use. After emptying the murky water out of the tank, it must then be disassembled into several pieces and washed out thoroughly before being stored away. The water filtration does work much better than I expected though, leaving absolutely no dust on the pre motor filter or the post motor HEPA.

Think of it as a shampooer first and foremost, with the vac function as an additional "bonus" feature, and you probably won't be too disappointed. The water filtration does offer some novelty value at the very least, for those occasions when you're in the mood to deal with it.

Anyway, enjoy, and let us know what you think once you have it!

I agree with Mac's findings on the Bissell, though my pre motor filter did have some dust on it, but that was after my bag of filth demonstration. I expect during regular use the filter will stay pretty clean.

The on board heater is very effective and the solution that sprays out of the cleaner is very hot indeed. In my video demonstration of carpet washing, you can see steam rising from the carpet as I spray the solution.

I would sum this machine up as being a jack of all trades, master of none. It does everything acceptably, but doesn't excell at anything, apart from hard floor washing where it leaves the floor spotless and almost dry. I found it hard work to use and not at all convenient, but it was a keeper for me, mainly due to the efficiency of the on board heater.

Bissell are currently selling the Hydroclean for £129.99 delivered. Put BISS10 into the voucher box and get it for £116.99.

The link below is for the introduction video. On Wednesday I will upload the dry vacuuming demo, followed by the carpet and hard floor cleaning demonstrations next week.

Bissell

So I've now got my Bissell Pro heat all rounder home, used it as a vacuum, and unlike most people, I found it great! For once there was no smell coming from the vacuum, the suction was much better than I expected and it picked up everything! The water tank is relatively easy to clean as well. So far I love it!

Ah the Sirena...

I saw that on eBay, I was sorely tempted to get it, but it was a little out of my current budget, I'm saving to get a Kirby Classic 1 CR imported from America. Please take lot's of photo's when you get it, it's a very pretty machine!

But I've seen it on Bissell's website! They are sold as the Bissell Big Green Complete in the U.S.
