Sandy: to get the bearing off u need to work the little shaft,,that u called ears out of the main shaft. An ice pick or sturdy small nail, and a pair of small vice grips and WD-40. Be careful and paitent as it takes some working but it will come out of there. On some of them the little ears were not a solid piece of metal but rather a rolled piece. Just take care when u drive it out or pull or both whichever works. Hope this helps. Robert |

Robert: Thanks! Where does that little sleeve come into the picture? Is it a spacer to keep the bearing a certain distance from the "ears"? |

also when you took the brush out of the housing, there would have been a flat little piece of metal with one screw holding the brush ends,,,,,,when you put the brush back in with the new bearing MAKE SURE THE LITTLE FLAT PIECE OF METAL IS ON THE BEARING WITH ITS LITTLE PROTUSION FITTING IN THE GROOVE ON THE BEARING...One for left side and one for the right side, they must be in the groove or the bearing will not stay put.
