I just had an odd thought. I've only ever seen eight Kirby vacuum cleaners in the flesh and I own four of them. The first Kirby I ever saw--and was mightily impressed by--was a Classic III Omega that a salesman demoed in our living room when I was about nine years old. Shortly thereafter, I realized my elementary school had the same model to vacuum the library, which was the only carpeted space in the school. The next one I saw was almost 40 years later when I rescued my first G6 from beside a dumpster in December 2012. A few weeks later, my dad gave me a Heritage 1HD. A few months after that, I spotted a G3 in the basement of my church. Somebody had donated it for the rummage sale, which was still a few months away. Something came up the day of the sale and I wasn't able to go and get it. Oh well, wasn't meant to be. Some time after that, I spotted a decrepit Heritage 2 at a thrift store. They only wanted $12 for it, but it was missing too many parts to be worth fooling with. In the past couple of months, I've gone Kirby crazy and bought a G5 on eBay, and am spending way too much money fixing it up, and a rather pristine G6, which I bought at a thrift shop. Had that happened a few weeks earlier, I most likely wouldn't have bothered with the G5. But there you have it. I own half of the Kirbys I've ever laid eyes on. Kinda scary, huh?

This may fix itself as you get older, as in you will find/ have them all! Stuff happens.

I can't remember how long ago it was that I had 4 Kirby's. Can't honestly give you an exact number of how many there are in the lineup, but there's no room on the shelf for any more!! Keep up the good kirby searching.

Number nine...Number nine...

I saw my ninth Kirby earlier this evening. It was a somewhat forlorn looking Classic III. It was at a thrift shop I don't frequent as much as I used to since I moved to the opposite side of town. It didn't seem to be missing any parts; in fact, it even had its hose and a crevice tool. But the aluminum was badly oxidized, the handle would hardly stand upright and there were a couple of tears in the bag. For $50, it just wasn't worth it. A week from tomorrow is their monthly half price sale. If it's still there and it occurs to me to go over there, maybe I'll consider it for $25, but even that might be stretching it.

I have seven of them. Here's a group pic. Left to right are a 512, 517, two D-50's, a D-80, Classic, and Classic III. The 512, D-50, and Classic III are pretty much my favorites of the group, and the Classic III is my most complete Kirby, I have everything except the Handi-Butler.

And here's a pic of my Classic III. As I said, my most complete Kirby.
