Hey all! I haven't posted in awhile, but I'm back! I just got a really cool old Hoover Dustette Model 100, and it doesn't run very well. It sounds extremely weak, like the brushes are worn down to nothing. I'd like to disassemble the motor and figure out what's wrong with it.

Can anyone tell me how I take the Dustette apart and remove the motor? Thanks so much!

May 1964 Service Manual

Sam Watson, Beko1987, posted the Dustette servicemanual with exploded views for models 100, 2504, and 2614 on his blog (oldhoovers.blogspot.com/2019/09/...):

Model "2504/2614"

The only other time I have seen a double model number was on some Penncrest cleaners; presumably during a change in model number format; like when Hoover Co. went from the mainly numeric format to alphanumeric with a letter prefix.

In this case, going by the service manual posted in my previous reply, the Model 2504 was equipped with the fixed nozzle and dust bag, while the 2614's design offered a range of attachments and the new "Disposall" bag. So, it seems that the "2504/2614" would have come with the different attachments with a customer option of the dust bag or "Disposall" bag.
