The Elite that I have talked about in previous threads but thought I would start a new one since it is all cleaned up.  Sorry if this annoys anyone.

Anyway here are the Photos of it in all it's glory. It has been fully disassembled, plastic parts washed and dried, motor bearings greased (they were very dry) re-assembled and polished. It is roaring to go now. I love it! I still can't believe I finally got one, The one vacuum I have been longing for, for years!

Here we are anyway.

I never did see the point in on-board tools where you had to attach the hose to use it. Might just as well kept them in a bag rather than push them round with you. Great looking cleaner though.

The on-board tools, I do like plugging the hose in and hear the motor change in tone. :P

Ah, the Mrs Doubtfire pose! When do we see a video of you recreating it?? Simple, light and VERY effective cleaners, should have kept making them. Seeing your refurb made me take apart my Legacy/Dimension and go over again. They make nice everyday use, machines, just handy/ comfortable to use.Mine uses the style Z bags, hard cover outside. The modern Y bags for the windtunnel, synthetic fiber work well on mine, better airflow I think. Enjoy the machine! Great work!

I am pleased that I am giving off inspiration, (good job it is not perspiration).

Me and my friend Mike did do a video a while ago recreating the dance but with the Turbolite (Elite 200) and yes that was me in the dress!! It was fun to do, would of looked better with the proper model. need to do that again sometime!

I do like these cleaners very much and I agree, they are light, great performers and very nice to use. Oh speaking of Legacy's I bought one recently, Legacy Supreme, it is in a lovely green colour with a very interesting tool caddy, that should be coming tomorrow, I only bought it on Monday last week! So, hopefully, there will be less drama with the courier this time around.

Well to me, yes it would, because pushing round a cleaner with all that strapped to the side doesn't strike me as overly convienient either. Especially when it serves only to store the tools, rather than allow them to be connected permanetly.

In fact the only cleaners which I thought ever looked fully at-home with on-board tools were the Electolux 600, Contour, and Hoover Turboower 2 & 3. Everything else looked to me like they'd been stuck on as an afetrthought.

Thanks John, it is indeed a U.S made Hoover, I love Elites! Lightweight, powerful, stylish retro/modern look and much sturdier that the similar Turbopower that we got here in the UK at the time, the Elites are very robust in comparison.

I will say though that the hose suction on this Elite ll Total System is adequate but not as strong as a UK Turbopower Total System. I still prefer the Elite over the Turbopower, I think I always will.

Your welcome for the Videos.

Alex.

I did find my hose suction improve when I used the style Y hepa synthetic cloth my vac store offers in their line. Not direct replacement, but on my Legacy it was perfect! Cuts back on the dust inside the hard cover a bit too.My smaller area rugs it lifts off the floor now too, so its a help for me.

I have tons of them

I find them  at thrift stores.  Everytime I see GENUINE Hoover bags,  regardless of style,  I buy them up. I stood in the factory where they were made.  I KNOW the workers who made them,  with U.S. pride,

Haha, your Hoover factory looks as dull as our Hoover Factory in Scotland. I am sure it is everything but dull on the inside though :)

I am going a bit weak at the knees at the thought of going in there back in the 90s and being surrounded by Elites! :D :D

MAIN "Maple Street" plant and offices. The new "International" building is attached to the big brown building. The warehouse is sort of behind it, and more factor space is behind the big white building.
That brown building is SACRED ground in Ohio....that's where "it ALL happened".
There was an Industrial Park, (now a church) on the highway. Behind it is still the current "Distribution Center". I was in there too...amazing. Every TTI product we get comes out of there.

EVERYONE LOVES your "Art Deco" HOOVER BUILDING. It is a stunning example of that are form, and a testament to HOOVER and all things British. One day, I WILL stand on that ground.

My 1951 Hoover Dustette was made in that building and I could think of nothing better than to see it with my own eyes.

It's stunning, isn't it?

Just a shame it's stood empty. I think Tesco own it now and there's a bloody great supermarket plonked on the land behind it. A lot of the smaller buildings were demolished when that was built.

Yes, according to Wikipedia and Google Maps there is a terrible looking Tesco at the rear and the front (where thankfully the lettering still remains affixed) has a sign advertising offices to let.

Indeed, although for how much longer I don't know.

If only I was a multi-milionaire I would buy all the Hoover buildings and ensure they remained as they were originally.

Ah, at least I can dream!!
