Here's an updated list. I've only been looking for convertible sets. I'm trying to figure out what set would've originally gone with my Model 36--wondering if there was a 3600 or 3650?

Does anyone have a good condition Model 36 manual they'd be willing to sell? Even if you don't want to sell, please let me know which tool set model # is mentioned.

I have a pdf for a model 34 that shows 6950 and 3250 tool sets if that helps any.
I could email it to you if you want.

Thanks for your posts, Nicholas. I've only seen one Dial-A-Matic's tools (Model U5909 as listed on the chart), so they must be even more rare than others.

Also, it's helpful to know that the Model 34 mentioned the 3250 and 6250 model sets as it and the 35 were the immediate special convertible predecessors to the 36.

Which vacuum cleaner(s) did the Model 1845 dusting tool set originally match?

That set would have fit the 425, 450, and 475 models.

I wonder?

Why did the later tool sets of the 1980s not include a floor brush?

Hose Styles & Telescoping Wand

Fyi ...

The double-stretch hose and telescoping wand, introduced in 1955 with the Constellation, touted a 15-foot (30-foot in Canadian ads) cleaning circle without moving the cleaner. Never knew about "Strato-Tools"!

The Tufflex hose was introduced with the Portable canister in 1962. I believe the Slimline, Convertible/Decade 80/Decade 800, Dial-A-Matic, and Concept One tool sets included it.

eBay Photos

I think that the two 1011 colors are Seal Greige Deep and Taupe Medium. Unfortunately, only the 1101 carton was posted.

Among the U4901 changes were the curved metal wand with spring latch to the straight plastic wand with ring latch, and the styling of the tools, including the converter wheel replaced by the felt square. Two examples are shown; though there may have been others. The same would likely be true for the Concept One tools.

Model U3901 - Concept One

Omitted from the previous lists:

Deluxe 8-piece Set: Furniture Nozzle, Hose Assembly, 2 Straight Tubes, Dusting Brush, Crevice Tool, Floor Brush, Converter

I would think that the original version would have had aluminum tubes like its contemporaries.

Incidentally, I erred by including the Concept Two in the previous list. Its hand-held "multi-purpose nozzle" included crevice tool and dusting brush attachments..

Angle Conversion Upright Tool Sets

The Model 63 Deluxe's blue set was the last to have the older style tools. The new 1956 design for most was introduced with the Model 64 Citation's sandalwood set; although some updates would later occur such as the crevice tool.

Here's a link to another thread that discusses Hoover tools in the early 1950s: www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bi...

Photos:

1. A Pinterest post shows the 63's tools in the owners manual.

2. Airway Charlie's 64 with its tools.

3. The 1950 newspaper ad features the new Veriflex hose for Models 41, 51, 29, 62, and 115 (another ad states, "The new Veriflex - light, tough, resilient vinyl plastic, flexible as a rubber band, can't kink, resists soil, will last indefinitely.")

4. (Incidentally) The double-stretch hose for the Constellation had been originally named "Ultra-flex" as shown in the 1965 ad along with the line drawing of the later style crevice tool; although not always used in ads.

3250 & 6950

The attached closed eBay listing photos appear to show the Cleaning Tools set model 3250 in Pearl Gray or Seal Greige Light; so maybe the 3200 and 6900 were in Pearl White, and the 3250 & 6950 were colored neutral?
