So the little band of rubber where the bottom of the bag connects to the mini-emptor on my "dumpster" G6 is badly gouged all the way through to the fabric bag on at least four inches of the exposed face. I'd tried wrapping it in black electrical tape, but that didn't stay put. Then I got a little inspiration. I bought a bag guard for an older Kirby—500 series thru Legend—and stretched it over the damaged nexus where the bag and emptor meet. It took a little wrestling to get it on there, but the end result was worth it (see photo).
After a little trial and error, I found the best method for installing it was to put the band over the "toe" of the mini-emptor and stretch it up until it was on the fabric of the bag, then pull the other end until it went over the "heel". From there, it was just a matter of pulling and massaging it into place. The damaged area is now protected and the thing definitely looks better than it did. The best part is it made for a pretty elegant repair for a small fraction of the cost of replacing the bag, which is otherwise in very good condition.
