To be quite honest its been so long since I took it apart I can't remember which motor is in. I think you are pretty close on the age of that Goblin. According to a pamphlet I have the first cylinder machines that the British Vaccum Cleaner Co. made was around 1923-25 and called the Turbinet (Says the first upright was 1921 and the first cylinder a few years later). In 1926 the whole range of cleaners was put under the trade name "Goblin". So it cant be previous to 1926. At the same time I have picked up copies (on the net) of these two Goblin ads. One is merely dated 1920's but the second is dated 1928. By 1931 it had been replaced in ads by the Clean Sweep, Magic Wand and Reliance, which were themselves replaced by the Ace and Triumph. I find it intersting that the Wizard was sold for such a long period though, running through both sets of brochures and up into the late 40's. Wonder if we could start a photo section in the collections that anyone could add to but be just Goblin for reference? Doug |
