I wish that I could help, but unfortunately I don't suggest this route. Why? I tried it.

I have a new black Lux Legacy--which I love--and for continuity purposes, I thought it would also be nice to have a discontinued white one in my collection (the white ones were the last to feature the 2100/Diamond Jubilee-style bumper trim).

I drove almost two hours away to buy a new one from a dealer who said that he had found one. Everything seemed legit. When I got home though, I realized that the serial number on the box had been scratched through and did not match the number on the vacuum. "Oh," I thought, "so they changed the box. Big deal." Well, as I unpacked the vacuum, it became immediately clear that what I was sold was not a brand-new vacuum. There were a few tiny, *minor* scuffs on the vacuum body (which wiped away with a magic eraser). The most telling signs though were scratches inside of the plastic wands from vacuuming dirt at high speed and a sticky dirt film on the inside of the hose.

What happened? Well, the dealer that I purchased this from contacted his people and was shipped a "new" old stock vacuum from another dealership. Supposedly. Assuming that this dealer was an honest guy, then he was most likely sent a floor model and was told that it was brand new. It was probably put in the box of a new black model so that whichever dealership it came from ended up with a new black floor model, and I got their white floor model in the black model's box.

When I first found this out, I was furious. I paid full price for someone's used floor model. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this vacuum was, more or less, still brand new. It had a black cord which means it was from the last production run of the Legacy prior to the black units being shipped. And it obviously wasn't used much, probably just a few times as a demonstration. So I kept it and didn't complain. It's certainly better than buying a "like new" unit on Ebay (ask me about my problems there), and it's warranted for 10 years like a new vacuum. And the price was reasonable honestly, so I'm ok with it.

The morale of the story... if you go asking around for a new-old Aerus, they will almost surely be able to find one. But don't be disappointed if it comes back as a floor model. If you do go this route, ask them straight up if it was a floor model. If I'd asked, they probably would have admitted it. But I didn't ask.

I would be wary of any NIB Classics that you call and request for, just because it has been over 2 years since these machines were actually new. I have doubts that any 2013 models are still around and actually new/unopened. Read more...

I was in your shoes a year ago. I have a black Legacy (and prefer the black color), but for nostalgia purposes, I wanted a NIB white Legacy to match my Ultra (the white models are also the last ones to wear the Electrolux-style bumper trim; the 2014+ models have new trim). I called around to all of the dealers within 2 hours driving distance and inquired about the machine until I found one. I purchased a NIB white Legacy a year ago, but when I got home, it was CLEARLY an old floor model that was sold to me at a new price as a new machine. The vacuum had noticeable dust in the hose and attachments, scratches inside the wands, and they gave me a printed out copy of the manual. I felt robbed, and I had driven like 2 hours to the dealership that had it. I ended up not complaining, and I kept the machine for 6 months or so just because I knew I'd never find another nearly new white Legacy. Eventually, though, I sold the machine on Ebay. Every time I looked at it, I was reminded that I'd been taken for a fool. It's possible that the dealer was doing his best to help me... maybe he called around and found the best white floor model available. But if that's the case, I shouldn't have paid full price for it since it wasn't new.

My local dealership is awesome, and I have no reason to have any negative feelings about the dealer network after the incident. I'm just saying, be careful what you wish for.

That being said, I would also be VERY interested in a NIB white Legacy if any dealers around the forums have one. Or, if there are two NIB Classics, I'd take the 2nd one (Luxmanmatt can keep the first). But that's if they are actually NIB. No more of this "floor model at new model price" bs. lol.
