Okay so I have been after this one particular model of Hoover Elite for years and I have finally got my hands on one, I have not been this excited about a vacuum cleaner in a long time.

It is on it's way and only cost me $175 all together, roughly £120 so it was not too bad.

I am still in disbelieve, I thought I would never get one.

So a heads up,  if the Elite ll that is on it's way is okay, I will be selling my other white/grey Elite U4671.

Here is the photo from the ad.

Alex.

You'll love that model. The older soft-bag Elites are some of the best due the large amount of space the bags have to inflate. You might want to order a new brush-roll; I would imagine the bristles are pretty worn by this point. I have seen some older Elites with fantastic plastic brush rolls with built in beater bars. These examples were all from the late 80s though, and I think your Elite is probably from around '92. But you never know. Take a look at CWP products if you need any replacements.

Where did you find this for sale? At first I was a little surprised to see how much you had to pay for it, but now that I've thought it through it, it doesn't seem that unreasonable. Elites require large boxes to pack and international shipping is pretty expensive. eBay sellers send all international shipments to a processing center in Kentucky and fly the packages out from there. That process can take awhile. Once it leaves Kentucky you should have it a few days later. I've been through this process as a seller a few times. Every package has arrived save and sound.

Anyway, congratulations on finding your dream machine! It's doesn't get better than a North Canton Hoover!

Yeah, I have been after an older soft bag for ages, but, specifically this model, I have always wanted it, after watching Mrs Doubtfire at a young age. At the time, it took me a while to figure out what brand it was and what the model was called as at the time I was quite uneducated on American Hoover's, (we are going back about 5 years here lol). I am glad I have finally got it, well it is not here yet, anyway. It does look like a real diamond in the rough though, judging by the photos on the listing, just dusty.

I found it on Craigslist and sent the money to the seller through PayPal, he wouldn't post at first, so I pleaded with him at how much I wanted that model and that I had been after it for years, all true of course, I even doubled his asking price to fully convince him and low and behold, he obliged. :D

All in all, quite a steel really, I am pleased I got it anyway, should be here in a few weeks, the seller said they are sending it via the post office, that explains the higher cost...So it is not just post offices in the UK that are expensive!

Alex.

Am I correct in thinking this will be a 5amp motor and not the 7amp?

Here is my Hoover Turbolite, the UK version of the Hoover Elite 200, it is from 1989 and it's brushroll seems in good condition, you never know, I might be lucky with that Elite ll, depends on how much use it has had.

It's so satisfying to find a dream machine -- and I speak from experience!  And what a nice find yours is, I might add.  I wish you all the best with it!

I remember that scene in Mrs. Doubtfire...and I remember thinking (secretly, of course): "You can't vacuum rugs with the hose inserted on that Hoover!" Which kind of made me angry that the art director did not think the audience would notice such a detail.

Thanks Bill, it is indeed satisfying, I was just browsing through craigslist and I was lying comfortabley on my bed and then I saw that picture of the Elite ll on the listing and I sat up immediately! Then said "oh my god!!" and of course I emailed the seller with my plead right away. I will show the photo they put on of the close up of the floor head, it appears to be ever so slightly dull with dust but hopefully a good clean and some polish will bring the shine up.

Eurekaprince, I think they did it purposefully to prevent the cleaner head from sticking to the carpet while doing the dance moves, possibly it might of gone un noticed to the un trained eye. I am surprised that all that banging and shaking about didn't make the tools drop off lol.

Alex.

But Alex, the Art Director did not even need to turn on the vacuum...they could have easily made it look like it was on (full bag + light turned on) while adding any required sound effects to the sound track. He had no idea that there were cleanerphiles like us out there! Or even vacuum salesmen!

Nevertheless, Robin Williams was masterful in this film...may he rest in peace.

I am a little bit concerned (when I say a little I mean a lot!) With the shipping of this Hoover Elite ll, the seller says he shipped it this morning at 11:53am but he said there is no tracking number! Aww Jesus! I hope it does not get lost, looks like I will have to wait and see what happens! He said he will email me therrecipt from the post office, the declaration and dispatch note, so that is something to go by...So I am not clinging on to hope...And trust!

Lets hope everything goes smoothly and it doesn't get lost, or stuck in customs!

One can live in hope!

I just can't wait until it is safe in my collection. God I am wittering on now, so shall leave it there.

Alex.

If he shipped it Fedex or UPS, there is almost definitely a tracking number. But since you said post office, I assume he means USPS which has tracking services "available". Tracking is cheap if it's not already included. It's usually about $2 but it may be different for international.  Either way it would be silly not to get one for such a long journey. You never know what people will do though.

Thankfully, International Priority includes "At no charge, $200 insurance for items containing merchandise". The more expensive but unlikely GXG service includeds $100 worth of insurance. So if anything happens, you'll at least get some or all of your money back.

Oops, I gave you the wrong link. The one above is for domestic shipments. Here is the correct one. If you make rough estimates on the package size and weight, you can check out the different international shipment polices on the last page.

Thanks.

My last Elite came via USPS and that had a tracking number, although there were no problems, and I doubt there will be with this one, USPS are pretty good. I just have no idea when it will be arriving, probably sometime within the next two weeks.

Well, I just got the receipt and dispatch note that he said he would email me. It turns out that after all the panic, there is a tracking number! I don't blame the guy, I blame that lady in the post office for not explain it to home properly, trust a woman to give out faulty information! aha :P

It was a long number at the top of the receipt that said "custom" next to it so I thought, hmmm, could that be a tracking number, so I typed it in on the USPS website and sure enough, all the tracking details came up, pheww!

I though that would be strange for them not to offer tracking with such a large parcel.

It is coming all the way from Michigan, it has just left the USPS facility in Oshkosh. For anyone interested, lol.

Alex.

I've had my Elite ll "same one pictured here" for quite some time now and it is by FAR my favorite out of the Elite line up! It was made in 1992 and has a five and a half AMP motor, so it's quieter then most of the others, but doesn't lack suction. Mine is in fantastic shape and has a brand new genuine HOOVER brush roll installed. The only thing keeping mine from being 100% perfect is that it's missing the height adjuster knob and the white dusting brush.....I absolutely love mine, and I know you will too! Can't wait until you receive yours!!!

Thank, I can't wait either. I have a square white dusting brush, not sure how much it would cost to send but I could send it you for just the cost of the shipping if you like. I doubt it would be much. I don't have a knob though, well I do, but not the one you are after! Ahah!!
