I know I am not the only one who needs help with this machine. First of all the outer zipper bag is toast. The bellows are torn and can't find bags. Maybe a conversion to type C bags would be best. The brush roll needs new bristles, and the motor sounds loud and may need bearings. Does anyone know where I can get these parts? I was tempted to bring it to a local Vac shop but I think it may be costly. I can do most of the work but I never changed bearings. WHAT SHOULD I DO? cocoaboo48@verizon.net

I don't know why ?

I also have a model 62. Everybody here says good things about them and they like them and desire them but if you ask were to get the roller brush's or outer bags or bellows or if any body has parts it gets strangely quiet. I have had mine for about 35 years and back then I went over it and the parts were readily available. I think the original parts have long been obsoleted and just not available. I have found some parts for mine at old vacuum stores over the years but even these stores are all but extinct. I would think if you want to use it daily you might want to get the type C set up and bellows or the more modern type A top fill set up which is still available. Also I think later year brush/ beater roller assembly will fit in it. These brushes are still available aftermarket for replacement but if you change to later model roller I would buy extra replacement brushes as I can see these being obsoleted in the future too. Original outer bags are long gone too but you can buy a gray generic aftermarket bag that is good quality on eBay. Bearings for roller can still be had aftermarket but are a newer style. Motor bearing for the top might be replaced with a complete later model top assembly. Lower bearing if not wore out might just need to be greased.I also think a later model bearing might be able to be used to replace it if needed you would have to drill out the rivets and use screws to assemble. That is what I know about the model 62 and my experiance owning it. I use it weekly and keep it lubricated and keep my eye out for extra parts when they present themselves I pick them up on anticipation of future use. So far I have been able to keep it running. It is a cool vac. It makes a great sound when running it on the carpet. It's a bit heavy going back and forth cleaning but that is because it was so well built so I do not mind. If some one does have a source for parts I also would be interested in knowing where? Regards Bill,
