I feel like it is not easy to use whilst cleaning a multi surfaced home- unlike the Dyson DC25 Animal I used to use daily.. and I am depressed about it. The Felix I use seems so much more versatile, but it smells like dog. Is a Miele Cat/Dog worth it? What Vacuum wont smell, will easily clean embedded hairs and switch to hard floor attachment in same room, and will not cost thousands? The Sebo does not even seem to get the furs as well as my broken Dyson! The Felix seems like it would.. but I read that miele canister has best CF.. what is it? Suction.. cfm? argh.. Who has a Sauber? Anyone here? The Dyson canister is growing on me. Suction great for dusting with brush and crevices.. but the damn beater brush sucks. I need help. My workers HATE the new Sebo. I need one more big vac that will do it all- and then a new little one that is easy to carry and dust and reach under stuff good.

Okey dokey. I thought the G1 cleaned extremely well. Maybe the brushroll needs changing? But all bagged machines smell.

The new Dyson models are a big improvement over the DC25 maybe you could try one of those?

There are laundry products that can help with the stinky bags. Gain/Purex and others sell little fabric softener wax pellets. Vac expert Tom Gasko gave me this great tip, and he recommended the Gain product. He recommends that when a new bag is installed, suck up about 12 to 15 of those little wax beads. It really does help.

If you really can't stand the smell even after that, I guess you could always get a water filtration vac like a Rainbow or Sirena and add some scents to the water.

The Simplicity Wonder/Riccar Prima would be worth considering if you really want a bagged canister. They were designed with guidance from Tom Gasko to make them really durable.

I'm a big fan of the Riccar/Simplicity/Maytag 9-lb fan first uprights. They don't have tools or a hose, but they do a great job on carpeting. Both my Mom and mother-in-law have the Riccar commercial versions, and they love them. My Mom also has a small Riccar canister with an excellent bare floor tool for the wood, slate, and tile floors. I hope you find something that works well for you.

Jonell, I agree that a new Riccar vacuum will impress you.

Check out this video of Riccar if you're not familiar with them:

The G1 and the Felix aren't that far apart from offering anything different in my experience. I find it unusual that you don't like the G1. Fair enough it doesn't have a brush roll on/off and doesn't swivel.

If you are only complaining that your Felix smells of dog, then it WONT be the bag or the filter that also requires changing but also cleaning out the hose AND cleaning out the dust channel behind the brush roll. Oils from pet hair is especially pungent and often gets lined around dust channels as well as the hose, associated tools and hoses.

Hoses on all vacuums ALWAYS need cleaned out if you have pets to clean up after. It doesn't matter whether it is bagged or bagless. The SEBO hoses are great for washing out and easy to do, provided that you let them dry completely before installing back onto the machine.

The hose on the Miele S7 is however screwed in and will need to removed carefully.

Forgot to say if it does need a new brushroll the check brush light will come on, on the floorhead.

I don't even know, I wouldn't be depressed with a G1. Sebos are fine vacuums, which ever one you have.

Its probs fos you are bored with it. Try a new funky vacuum like a Dyson and it should be sorted.

You'll still have to clean the hose with a Dyson though. Or any brand. Infact come to think of it, some dirty fan uprights don't even have an accessible dust channel to clean the air ways free of pet hair smells.

My vac guy says to put a few drops of tap a drop inside the felix canister to eliminate pet odors.

@sptyks I like that guy, cause he likes the Felix and the Riccars :)

I think there is something wrong with my G1. I need to take it to the vacuum man. It cuts out whilst using and the suction is "iffy". Ya, I use it a lot. I have a cleaning business. I have many Dyson and one Riccar and more.. OH my gah. I just got the hard floor parquet brush for the Dyson canister and it is THE BEST THING EVER! On a pet hair laden house. THE BEST.

Why not check it yourself? Sounds like it is clogged if it is cutting out. Check the inspection door on the underside, remove the hose and check down it too. Could be the simplest of things. Also check the catch by the handle, it could be loose if the handle hasn't been locked down properly.
