So several months ago I got a centec CPB-100 kit when I installed my central vac.

I never really liked the hose with it and wanted to poll the CV experts to see what they know. I find it kinda heavy and it easily wants to kink itself.

I have 2 hoses - the above electric one for the CPB-100. I also have a basic centec air-only hose - turns the vac on when you plug it in. The air only one is 1-3/8", smooth bore. I'm not sure what the stats are for the dual volt cpb-100 hose.

What I did - I bought a waterlift gauge. I put the gauge in one valve, the plugged the hoses into a valve in another room - with no tools or anything on the end. My idea - this would measure the static pressure in the pipe system - i.e. the working vacuum. More restrictions from the hose would mean higher readings on the waterlift gauge - i.e. more static pressure needed to overcome.

With the CPB-100 dual volt hose, I saw the reading around 40 IOW. With the straight suction smooth bore, 1-3/8 hose, I saw it reading around 30 IOW. So, this would imply that I'm getting less airflow from the CPB-100 dual volt hose. I'm assuming it is not smooth bore and/or it is 1 1/4"?

Does anyone know for certain? Are other dual volt hoses this clunky? The straight air hose is so much nicer to use.

I should also add - when I put the gauge on the hose end to completely seal off the suction, it is very close to the rating of my motor (134 IOW max) -- and it's even close when I put it on the utility valve and flip the switch on the power unit :)
