My little rant.

I decided to temporarly retire my Rainbow until we get new carpet. So I'm using my Kirby. I sent the Kirby to the Kirby Company of Southwest Michigan so that I could have it serviced and cleaned really good. I got it back today paid $62.33 and started to use it to see how it does now and the front wheels fell off. I tried to put the back on, Jacob tried to put them back on and we can't get them on. So tomorrow I'm going to have to take it back to Kirby Company and have them fix it. I'm hoping that this isn't the start of problems, to try to get me to buy a brand new Kirby.

You didn't say whether the wheels came off the axle (both at the same time highly unlikely), or the axle came off the fan case (more likely)?

As you probably know, axle is held to the fan case with two screws, and two little "keepers" (for the lack of better word). VERY simple to reattach (two screws!). You have to insert the spring into the height adjustment gizmo, and align this FIRST, and then place the axle into it's grove on the bottom of the fan case, and screw in two little keepers. That's it. Hardly difficult, and definitely self explanatory once you flip the motor over.

It fell apart on the front left side where the height adjustment is. Jacob tried to put the wheel assembly back together and he was unsuccessful. I tried the same thing and I couldn't get it either.

Somebody just forgot to tighten something.  I hope it's not a ploy anyway.  If they pitch you about it can't be fixed etc.  ask for your money back, and go to another shop, though you didn't mention which model you have; there is little that can't be repaired.

I have a G 2000 Limited Edition. A friend of mine gave it to me. She didn't like my Rainbow even though she never used it. LOL I looked around and didn't find any screws. The problem we are having is that we can't get the wheel on the axel? and I can't get the height adjustment together to work properly. I'm going to take it in tomorrow when I go to Saint Joseph. I'll have to have them fix it on the spot. I hope it's not a ploy.

I didn't have a chance to go to the Kirby company today. I woke up at 11:15 and the office in Stevensville is only open from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM and I wasn't going to have time. I did call and spoke to Mike who is in the office and who I have been dealing with. He said that he would be coming down tomorrow (Friday)and he would take fix the vacuum for me. He didn't understand how this happen.

And it's fixed. The Kirby man came down today and had it fixed in about three minutes. He tried to charge me and I wasn't having any of that. I told him that both Jacob and I tried to fix it and we couldn't. He said that it didn't surprise him that he would have had to fix it one way or another. He also said that even if we had managed to fix it it would have broke again because we had no idea what we were doing.

I'm glad it's fixed

Though I can't say he was very nice.

He wasn't friendly. I know he was mad because I wouldn't pay for the repair. He was a bit condensending, but from past experiences a lot of Kirby salesman are that way especially if they don't like your vacuum. I have his product, and I also have one of his biggest competitiors and he seems to think I should get rid of my Rainbow. Not gonna happen.

In this instance...

would it do any good to report him to Kirby? I don't think they have much control over their distributors, at least that's the drift I have gotten, and that is really sad.

No and it's not worth my time. He is lucky that Jacob wasn't here when he made the comment about what we were doing. Jacob would have shown him to the door very quickly. I can always go to Kalamazoo or another area that has a distributor. It's done and over with.
