Look at my amazing find at a Thrift store for 10.00. I need to polish it and the bag needs to be washed and it needs a new brushroll and belt.. I want to put a Kevlar fan in it as well.. Anyone know where I can get these things cheaply?

Can't beat the price. Of course, it will be even nicer after you give it a good polishing. For parts I highly recommend Kerry Reid, who has posted here occasionally. His email is k.reid@rcn.com. He was a big help with my D-50.

Nice find Eric and great price too,looks like the original bag,I worked at a Kirby dealer back then,I was only 14,I did all the repairs,I remember the Omegas,Classic Threes and Heritage models fresh out of the box,If I remember right the Omega had kind of little rubbery textured dots on the bag,the Classic Omega looks a lot like the Classic One but the attachments that fit on the front of the machine are not interchangable,they changed the front safety switch on the Omega,so Classic Three attachments would work but they would be red of course,I found two packs of type H Eureka bags if you still need them,I pick up vintage vacuum bags all the time anyway,even if I don't have the machine,you never know,so if you want them let me know. Thanks for the advice.. I ordered a new brushroll, belt, bulb, and fan for my Omega for like 32.00 from a vacuum site online.

Hi Mark,

After I took the bag off I realized that the area where the scraper is.. the zipper is broken.. Any advice how to fix this? PS I can't even sew a button on..

Hi Eric, Cute Kitty,mine always has to inspect anything new that comes into the house also, I can barely sew a button on if I have to,my Grandmother was a seamstress,I tried to learn but every time I just got the machine all tangled up,I can do most everything else from cut and coloring hair to fixing cars,It shouldn't cost much to have a zipper sewed in. I know this has been covered but what should I use to polish (I couldn't find the thread) And can I use a drill with a buffing wheel to speed the process up?

Can't sew a button on? You need this.. I have one although I can sew a button on it's handy when you're in a rush.

Hi Eric, I polished a Heritage One using Mothers Aluminum Polish and a buffer pad attached to a drill and got good results but it just depends on the condition of the metal to start with,the recommendations in the thread you were refering to, involved using two or three grades of fine steel wool,I don't remember the grade numbers but you can start with the grade you need depending on the condition of the machine,use the Mothers Polish with the steel wool,I wear rubber gloves,its messy so have plenty of paper towels handy,then do the final buffing by hand or with the drill buffer attachment. When I worked at the Kirby dealer we had a bench mounted buffer and sticks of polish to apply to the buffer wheel,It was high powered,I would be buffing a part and if it caught the edge it would sling it across the shop,nothing ever broke,the machines came out looking factory new. I'd like to get a bench mounted buffer but I have to clean out the garage so I can get to the workbench. Mark

Eric.....

The Omega had three different styles of bags. First one was the pin stripe. Second was the four dots that formed a diamond pattern, and the third was the plain gold bag with the patch. The replacement that is used and considered to be the correct replacement for both of those models is the PLAIN gold bag with no patch. You could change the bag and hold onto the bag that is on there now just for show. It's up to you. Yours looks like the diamond pattern?

yes mine is the diamond pattern i would like to keep the diamond pattern with the patch but be able to use paperbags is that possible?

Eric,

You would have to then change the Sani-Emptor to the Tradition or the Heritage style--however, I am not quite sure which one it is. Jeff P. did it to his Omega. (or maybe it was Charlie W?) The bag would have to be cut and a zipper installed. Then, the paper bag conversion kit would have to be added to the "Emptor" so as to be able to accept the paper bags. Email mail Hoover1060 for the details. I am sure he can show you some pics. They way he did it came out great! I want one, too!
