Hey vacuum guys! Today I bought my Nilfisk GM 80 in classic grey at a vacuum cleaner shop in Basel. It's a design beauty and a real classic of all vacuum cleaners. 1200W, very powerful suction, excellent manufacture...I'm very happy wiht this brand new Nilfisk. Tho I have to admit: I am very used to operate with my Miele s381 and the comfort and ergonomic handling of a Miele vacuum cleaner stays unbeatable :)

Have a look at the pictures - unpacking my new Nilfisk GM80 in classic grey (the box shows the Nilfisk GM 80 black...)

Hi James. Thanks. The black version is very nice too. I was between grey and black, but at some point I thought a real classic one has to be grey so I made my decision for the grey one. Tho the black one is very noble too.

Nilfisk is an expensive brand and besides that it is not easy to find an adress here in Switzerland where they sell this brand. I wanted to buy the vacuum in a store because I'm not so much into i-net ordering. Some shops assistants never heard about this brand before hahaha, Nilfisk vacuums are not very common for the normal consumer. It was a long way to find the GM80 in a shop and at the end I took the train to go to another city to go to a vacuum specialty store > staubsauger-kehrli.ch. They were very polite there and made me a special price yet.

In the past Switzerlands electric power stations had some shops where they offered expensive but high quality household products - Nilfisk vacuums were also in its ranges. Unfortunately they closed downs all this shops in the last few years because people just came for competent advices and after that they went home for ordering the products for cheaper money per i-net.

Do the EU regulations apply even in Switzerland? I thought Switzerland wasn't in the EU ?

I am actually quite shocked that the EU rating for the Emissions Control on this Nilfisk is "G"....

I always thought that Nilfisk excelled in filtration on their vacs - so much so that they were the recommended brand for use in hospitals in North America. Very surprised to see the low rating.

Yes, a G in the air filtration is really surprising. I did not pay attention to this classification. I'm going to ask Nilfisk Switzerland about this, we'll see if this bad classification is really correct.
