I'm new here and joined to find out more about the Royal vacuum cleaner I purchased yesterday on ebay.

The pictures show a model number of 1048 and I cannot find any listing of that model ever being produced. It was an anniversary version purported to be built in 2000.

Does anyone know anything about this model and is the model number a different number than listed on the plate in the housing? (I'm wondering if the "4" in the model number was put on by someone other than Royal because it does look to be a little different than the other numbers as to clarity. There is a picture in the link below showing the ID plate inside the housing.)

Thanks for any info and here is the link.

Wonderful purchase!

It will serve you well for many years to come, and you won't struggle to use it (it's amazingly light for a metal vacuum!)

They made a TON of these, under many different models. I have the Anniversary Edition from 1992. It's a tank. Bags are readily available, and Kirby belts do fine. I use HEPA Hoover Y bags from envirocare in mine since it's a top fill, not the bottom fill (F & G style). With a little bit of Electric 3-n-1 motor oil (Fill it until you see the oil rising, then add a bit more after a couple of minutes if need be, the motor will last for SEVERAL more years. Royal brushrolls are still available. Good Vac sells a wooden one with white brushroll strips and it isn't that expensive. I'm sure others will chime in. Congrats on one of the best upright vacuum cleaners ever made- Mitchell

Welcome to Vacuumland and congratulations on your Royal vacuum cleaner purchase! While I am not a Royal enthusiast or collector I have heard wonderful things about them and am sure made a wise investment.

One of the nice features of the site is the search engine to locate topical "threads" (discussions). I typed in "Royal Model List" and found out that the Royal Model 1048 is a commercial upright which was manufactured from 2001-2004.

Here is the link to that list: www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-...

Here is a link to the Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd (TTI). which is the current owner of the Royal Appliance Mfg. Co.: www.royalvacuums.com/about-royal-...

Happy vacuuming!

Thanks everyone for the info!!

Ronni: I see now that the Model 1048 was made in the early 2000's. Thank you!!

When I went to a few sites to see if parts are available if I ever need them I was not finding that model listed in their listings.......I'll have to try harder and look more closely.

Thanks again everyone.
