Interstate started it with the Compact (and added Revelation in 1950). Harold Schoettler was President of Interstate for several decades (70's and 80's). He started his own company and produced a plastic bodied Compact with a few minor improvements. This is the Patriot and Air Storm models. Tri-Star is the name that the Compact was changed to in the early 1980's - to differentiate the door to door model (Tri-Star) from the retail vac shop model (Compact). Eventually, the Compact name was dropped altogether. Electrolux (Aerus) and Tri-Star are owned by the same company today, and the machines share many components like motor, power nozzle, attachments, etc. The Miracle Mate was designed to compete with Tri-Star for door to door sales. The added cord rewinder makes the machine very heavy. The Miracle Mate uses a disposable bag that's somewhat different from a Tri-Star bag, and you can't very successfully interchange them - the Miracle Mate bags will be much harder to obtain than Tri-Star bags.
If I was going to buy one (and I actually one of each of these cleaners) I would go for the Tri-Star. Parts are easy to obtain and are reasonable in cost. |

I've owned
A Tristar CXL ( made by interstate) A Tristar MG2 (newer aerus made model) A Miracle Mate And a Patriot Of the 4 i've had the Patriot and tristar CXL were the favorites. The miracle mate was heavy and didn't produce as much airflow as the CXL or patriot. The MG2's original motor had strong suction but very poor flow, it was replaced with a dual stage motor from the EXL, and now it's a decent machine but i'm not big on the tools they use. The Patriot is more powerful than the CXL and has that HUGE hepa filter on the back that will last quite some time, but suffered from having a poor powerhead (Sebo ET-C) so i sold the powerhead and use it with Eureka Vibragroomer III. As for the CXL it was sold in favor of the Patriot, because i felt they were too similar to one another, and the patriot being more powerful gave it the edge. |

This is kind of an old thread, just checking in 2020 if anyone needs any Patriot Parts or supplies; feel free to let me know.
Also, we are on the P4 Model now, Purple with Arc 3 motor. One of my favorite designs of any machine. Also, full digital color display with maintenance and filter check on the body. These are amazing, and last a long time. I'm based out of Southern Illinois, Eastern Missouri if anyone needs help. Kyle CLICK HERE TO GO TO cleanairhybrid's LINK
