Hey Guys
Won this on EBay today. The model number wasn't listed but looking at the skirt I think it's our first non floater- model 822.... A rare find especially all original !!!

Yes Seamus, that's the 1954 first model and with the original hose, too. You lucky duck.
Is it a Perrivale Constellation? And does it have the floater mofification to the base?
Our Cana/US model 82 non-floater was manufactured, along with the floating mulberry 84 and Heather Rose 85, from Nov.17.54 to 1957. The 1958 model 86 was golden colour and the first with the fixed hose partway down the side and the new handle with the tailfin.

Yours looks to be in superb cosmetic condiion. Congrats!

Perivale?

Hey Dave
I'm not sure where Hoover made the Constellation- if not at Perivale it was at the Scottish factory at Cambuslang. The other Cylinder out at this time which was the 417 was definitely Scottish- the box has on it Made in the Scottish factory of Hoover Limited.

Connies in the UK

The Constellation was actually launched here in 1956, they had their own production facility (at that time at least) in Park Royal - a largely industrial district about 5 or 6 miles from Perivale. The floating version was launched in 1958.

It's a 822... but it floats....

It arrived and although it's a 822 it has the floaty base. Going on the serial number it's from roughly April/May 1957

PS spot the Hepa conversion lol

May I ask how much you paid Seamus?

How much??

It cost me £64 plus £15 post - not too bad for its condition :)

Seamus, that's a beaut! Glad it got saved.

And if you look very closely during the "Dancing Queen" sequence, that's the same machine that Meryl Streep has in "Mamma Mia" :).
