I don't expect most here will be familiar with repairing a winder, but here's my unit and thanks for any feedback or silence…appreciate this site.

The plastic spring spool doesn't have anything to attach the spring to, it's just friction. The ears on the spool keep the spring from wandering as it winds. If you pull the cord out too far sometimes the spring will come off of the small plastic spool. Just wind the spring back on to the plastic spool and then attach the end of the spring with the hole on to the drum as per the schematic that I posted.
Hope this helps |

Ok, thank you…I know I could do trial and error, but it's always a gift to have someone say, "yes" or "no" to the ideas. "I'll be back". With good news. :-) |

I've done quite a few cords on Lux cord reels in the past few years. My recommendation is to replace the spring if you are having a week pull back, and I always replace the spring when replacing the cord.
Nothing holds the spring to its spool because the spring naturally will want to wrap around it, it wraps backwards around the cord reel so that it will want to unwind from the cord's reel and wind back onto its own. |
