HELP MY HOOVER DELUXE MOTOR WRITTEN OFF |

Well now my Hoover deluxe has now had its motor written off!!!!
The gentleman who looked at it said that it had been very badly treated by someone not in the know to repair it. The armature both ends was bent! The suction fan would wont come off the prop shaft and their were copper wires hanging out of the armature touching the sides as it rotated.The bottom fan was also out of line. He said the best thing to do with it was to remove the motor completely as it was not economical to try and fix it. Some of the wires had a melted jelly like feel to them. He also thought that it had been sat in rather wet damp conditions for a long time. So now I am left with a 652 with no workings what so ever just a complete body with on off switch and rose cable. I don't know what to do now as I am not qualified to know about electrics. Will a later model senior fit this and just drop in complete. I love the look of this machine so I don't know if I should sell it for spares or wait for a person to find a donor motor and wire it in for me.Its all rather a sad situation.I am most unhappy :-( as I have always wanted one of these. Also the bearings were badly worn on it along with brush roll bearings. What shall I do guy's i mean this has a great body and a rare bag!!!

As for repair shops
in my local area I give up they are so scared of these machines and anything classic or vintage. The man i got to check it out is a retired electrician,butnot a vac man. I tried to get my 30s machines serviced on the island they wouldnt even go near them they were scared too. So i give up with vac shops here they have become like car garages ripp off merchants they told me 18 years ago my z65 needed a total rebuild and guess what 18 years later used wkly still running sweet!!! | ||

Thanks so much for that information,that does at least gives me some new hope for this 1950s style pink and white.
I just really love the 50s look of this particualr model.I intend to do a full cosmetic make over where the white paint is concerned to make her gleaming. Once up together i wish to use her weekly as i think my other vacs are just a tad too old for that as far as wear and tear and getting spares are concerned. Knowing this means its not the end of my Hoover deluxe. I just so wish i could do electrical mechanical work but i cant, i am good with cosmetic work only. As for vacuum shops here their bad news just wanna rip you off or pass the buck and dissmiss it as they tend to be scared of old timer vac's | ||

You absolutely should keep the machine, Mark ! Consider that this is the most wanted english senior and pretty rare today. The motors from later senior should absolutely fit, the only difference being that the cables for the switch will have to be re-fit, but it's something really easy I have already done many times. Probably some other collector in England should have some spare motors - you will find it easily, be patient - sorry that I no longer have spare parts for the senior, but I have trashed my extra parts due to lack of space last year !

Thank you for your comments i will defo do as you say,
I will give it the full cosmetic treatment then while its an empty shell,i guess while she is empty is now the best time to do a full paint job on her. I have always wanted one of these machines as i remember this well when i was a kid as mum bought a seconhand senior and it was this model. I really love the design of this particular model reminds me of 1950s cars,I don't much care for the later seniors so much i dont think they have as much style as the 652 and 652a | ||
