I'm not sure if this is the correct category for my newly acquired Royal 4000.  I used to know how to read Royal serial numbers in order to tell when they were manufactured.  But I've forgotten, so I'm calling on our Royal experts to help me with the dating of this vacuum!

I once owned a Model 2025; however, I gave it to a friend who needed a good upright.  But I love Royal uprights, so I had to have another!

Royal is now making HEPA bags (as opposed to the old "HEPA type") bags.  So I installed a new one, along with a brand new brush roll, and it cleans like a champ!

One of the great things about this Royal model are the brush stiffeners.  They provide the "cushion of air" that helps propel the vacuum along.

It was already in really great shape.  But I went ahead and give it a quick hand polish.  When the weather warms up, I'll disassemble it and give it a good machine polish.

If memory serves me right, I think this serial number indicates that it was made in 2002.

This is a outstanding vacuum, they use the same "A" bags as hoover convertibles The A bags come in high and hepa filtration and a cheaper in cost then the Royal bags.

Beautiful Royal!

2002, that must have been at the "end of the line" for U.S- made Royals.

Very nice!

I have one that looks like that, only a 6amp. motor, model 8000 I believe. I love the sound of the motor, much quieter than the 10ampers. The brush stiffners are wonderful, a good alternative to beater bars I think. Yours, as always, is a gleaming example of your collection!

HEPA type bags for the Royal--How do you get them???Want to get a pack of them-are they the Filtrete ones?Years ago a Royal dealer put on an interesting demo--He demoed that the Royal was the only cleaner that could get dried mud out of a carpet-sure does!!!The mud has to be COMPLETELY dry before you try it!This is the same dealer that did the "penny test".

These are the bags I purchased.  They are made of the 3M Filtrete material.

Will have to see if the Royal place in Kinston has those-or see if the Greenville Sew&Vac can get them.He is a Royal dealer-but just doesn't stock Royal machines. He orders them if someone wants one.
