The NSS is honestly the winner, the same basic machine began being manufactured in 1940. The model M was made from 1940 to I believe she said 1972, then a more powerful motor was put in the machine along with a couple small changes in the housings and it became the M-1, which is still made today. 1940-2015 means the NSS 'Pig' has been a current machine for 75 years with no major or truly significant changes.

The Dirt Devil Ultra Hand Vac? I've read that this vacuum was introduced in 1996. Surprisingly, they are still being made! I saw some in stock at an independent hardware store.

Guess the longest made vacuums would have to fall under Commercial/Industrial(NSS Pigs) then residentual--could the Aerus/Lux be contenders? How bout Kirby,Rainbow,TriStar/Compact?Then there is Royal. Can't forget them. |

What about the Hoover Convertible platform and all the models that were built off of it? |

The Turbopower 2 was very short lived really, 10 years. 1992-2002.
Still can't believe the Henry is still going after 34 years, with only slight modifications, like motor changes, slightly different lettering, switch and exhaust placement and bucket styling. other than that it has always stayed the same, it has always been powerful and has always been quiet and reliable. |

..may be a contender depending on a judgement call . Model numbers and names are sometimes just marketing. The. Hoover Portapower was first the Swingette i believe. It would edge out the Aerus Legacy depending on how you apply the as of yet nearly noexistent guidlines.
The Compact/Tristar is better than these two but depends if one allows the current model is close enough in design. The EXL was close enough in my book, the MG (i think it's called) maybe not. I haven't seen one side by side to the old. I think it is likely close enough. So depending on how you see things could the Royal top the Pig? I will defer to those more knowledgeable, but i think it might. The basic Hoover Convertible design is still in production in commercial variations but when did it begin? I'm not asking when was the first Convertible model produced but rather when was that basic design introduced by Hoover?
