The guy in the video does make some good points. BUT picking up a piece of wire & bits of hay?! Hmm, call me crazy, but maybe he should think about picking those bits up BEFORE he runs the vacuum! That is the reason why it clogged to begin with, because they got jammed inside & allowed the pet hair to collect around it. Plus, if he's going to fault Dyson for their design, then he may as well just have fault with every other hand vacuum on the market, since many are cheaply designed these days.

The bloke is using it for stuff a DC14 would be better suited to.
They are designed for zapping around wooden floors and the like in apartments, not cleaning up detritus from rabbits. People make the mistake - probably because of the marketing - if thinking they can use hand-helds like they would a 'proper' cleaner, and they are simply not up to it. |

DC44 is a vacuum for use in between normal vacuuming. Like between breakfast and lunch, you have a snack. Its like that really, so that should not see big messes to vacuum up, especially things like hay. |

That was a bit of an eye opener on that Dyson Digital Slim model. Even for a cordless vacuum for quick in between clean ups the air paths through both motorised heads was very small and like the guy said in the video poor design! I do think Dyson vacuums are becoming too complex and too over engineered. Dyson just need to go back to basics they have the know how to do this. What does James Dyson say his Engineers are doing more with less!! Simplicity is sometimes the most effective and efficient way of doing something!
I have to sort of agree it is the marketing Dyson do that leads the general public to believe that these cordless vacuums can replace your mains vacuum. Mind you I've read many a comment on Dyson's Facebook page from owners complaining there Dyson doesn't pickup certain debris off the floor and Dyson advises them they shouldn't be using the vacuum for this and that and talking more on the main full size ones. |

Indeed. Btw the new DC59 has an actual tube instead of a narrow gap |

True but unfortunately it doesn't stop the general public abusing their vacuum still. Making things simple and easy to use and maintain by the user reduces some of these issues. The other issue is some users think vacuum cleaners are used for cleaning up all sorts of things when there main purpose is to remove dust and dirt from floors plus above floor cleaning like dusting etc...
Hopefully the DC59 has resolved that issue of narrow airways around the main head! Apart from some having narrow airways I have to say the digital slims have the least complex air paths from floor to exiting the machine compared to the corded full size models. Another Dyson to suffer from narrow air paths is the Dyson Cylinder/Canister Ball in particular the DC39. It's the part of the air path that goes under the bottom of the bin very thin flexible pipe. Again users complaining of constant blockage of this part of the air path on Dyson's Facebook page. I think one user did post a video of their issue. You could say is it what the user is trying to vacuum up or how the vacuum is designed and engineered!! |

Most of Dyson Upright wands are skinny due to them fitting inside the hose. I think the DC07 had one of the widest wands and the hose is bigger in diameter to accompany the bigger in diameters wand.
That's the problem these young Engineers have great ideas but I think they don't stop and think about how the end user may use the machine!! Dyson do lots of testing but do they test for user abuse to see how their machines cope and where possible blockages could appear around the machine. That way they could alter that part to improve it. Just a thought. |

DC14 has a pretty thick diameter wand too |
