Got this off eBay this evening for a tenner. The flex was broken where it enters the body of the cleaner so I rewired it and the motor fired up. It's also got the ydk motor in it which was a nice suprise as all the dc01's I've had have always had the amtek motor in them. I've stripped it down and cleaned it up apart from the cyclone which is going to be done tomorrow.

I'm not a big DC01 fan to be honest, but it looks in good condition!

Just looking at the DC07 & DC14 in the background, how on earth did you get the bins so clear?

Hi suction selector, I use autoglym glass polish on the bins then spray with wd40 and wipe with kitchen role. Here is a picture or my de stijl dysons with the bins done.

Here is dc01 with its cyclone back on and polished up, it's slightly discoloured but hardly any scratches so I think I will keep it.

Nice! We owned the exact one from new 16 or 17 years ago. Lasted a few years because I messed it up by "loving it" so much :P I was a toddler! Lol :) was then replaced by a hitachi, 1 year later then replaced by a Morphy Richards orb cyclone cylinder, two months later, replaced by a Vax 6140 PETS, then replaced by a dc04 silver lime which we still have. :)

I'm just going out for a cigarette so il do the bin for the dc01, is it true that the ydk is slightly more powerful?

Well its finished, runs a lot quieter than before I stripped it down. Here is the before and after on it.

Quite pleased with It, do you prefer the ydk over the ametek?

PS

Yes the YDK is more powerful, the suction is almost similar to a DC04! Dyson claim it has 90 AW but I don't think so. I would say the DC03 does though. DC04 has 230 AW

I had a few Ametek DC01's and the brushbars in the carpets were nice and gentle, whereas with the YDK DC01's we owned actually shredded some crones and edges of our old rugs!

Just curious, but which DC14 is that? Is it an origin or HEPA model with an Animal cyclone? :) looks very smart!
PS What heppened to your DC33 which you purchased for £25?

I don't know I have a dyson dc01 with 1300w motor and it is a ametek motor

Parwaz it's a dc14 origin, I have the original yellow cyclone but I repaired a friends Dyson and a dc14 animal was given to me when she collected her 07. The silver cyclone was really tidy so I tried it on my origin with a not so good cyclone and it actually matches nicely. I still need a few bits for it but it only cost me a fiver. Do you have a silver dc07 dc14 stair tool spare parwaz? Oh and bx Here is a better picture of my de stijl. :) thank you for the kind comments.

OMG nice!!! Can ai see some DC03 brochure scans please? :) and do you have the book where the front page has dc01 destijls all lined up as I loved that, but unfortunately lost mine

I have the 1997 1998 sales catalogue with the de Stijl line up. Il photograph it as I don't have a scanner. That dc14 you like has been stripped for parts parwaz. It needed far too much bits replacing on it so I'm in the hunt for a nicer one off eBay now. :)

Awesome! Thank you :) btw which DC14 was it?

Post# 309470 , Reply# 19   12/21/2014 at 11:11 (3,385 days old) by Dysonabsolute ()

That origin with the sliver animal cyclone. The build quality on that later origin with the iron coloured plasric is really poor. I am hoping to get an early dc14 all floors or animal that had the silver spine and wand. Have you seen my sebo guys its a great piece of kit.

Post# 309474 , Reply# 20   12/21/2014 at 13:08 (3,385 days old) by parwaz786 ( )

Cool, why would you say the later DC14's are worser quality than the early ones? I have had two allergy DC14's, a white and orange all floors one, a blitz it red and silver model and the yellow origin with yellow cyclone, yellow buttons etc etc everything.. I think the later dc14 is more sturdy plastic wise as the older ones had brittle plastics

The parts seem a lot lighter on the iron coloured dc14's, I want a blue dc01 don't care if it's not the limited edition one. Do you guys ever go out looking for skip finds?

So lucky. In my area of Birmingham its really really busy and populated, so when any appliance gets chucked out, the Romanians come and take it for scrap metal :/ like WTH! They even took my DC07 Animal.

All I seen was the following: DC07 allergy lime model approx 5 years ago. Good condition physically.
LG cheapo bagged cylinder in the alley way behind my house. Paper clips were used to hold the cut open bag together. Found in an Asda bagless cylinder vacuum box.
10 years ago approx, me, my dad and my brother went out and it was the evening where everyone was chucking out stuff. Saw a lime green DC04 and my dad asked if. I wanted it, for some stupid reason I said no :/
Approx 5 years ago at my aunties old house, her neighbour had a DC04 silver lime in their garden with a cut cable. I am sure it worked because the cleaner head was broken only. Along with the bin catch, the little teeth on each side of the cleaner head were all broken off so the floating green head would not go on.
That's it :/ that's Birmingham for ya 😒
