I'm trying to repair Mom's Panasonic MC 6210 Jet-Flow Upright.
I have replaced the roller brush (hard to find!) and I replaced the round and then the flat belt after it was being 'eaten'-every time she put aload on it, ie: vacumming a rug, etc it would begin the smell of rubber. NOW the problem is this: The roller will run (switch on "FLOOR") when machine is in vertical position; unlock with foot pedal, and bring upright portion (handle)to the angle at which one would normally vacuum, and roller Shuts off (!?)...but if you lower handle all the way down to a position parallel with the floor, the roller starts running again (?!) HUH? HELP!!!
I also have been working on moms panasonic vacuum this week! It is a Jet-Flo MC 6220 which is the same as yours in every way other then the 6220 has a speed control with 3 speeds. Where ever did you find a new brush roller, that is what I need for mine. I have a few spare parts vacuums with the belt transfer parts you might need to fix yours. It sounds like the belt transfer system is your problem or a bearing in the idler pulley between the motor and the brushroller.
