Hey Everyone! I'm considering buying a brand new Kirby for the first time. Do they take other vacuums as trade-ins? |

Yes.It also depends on the salesman.I encountered one Kirby salesman that didn't want a trade in. |

Buy it at the distributors office. Make sure to go there in the mid afternoon when all the salesmen are on the streets, so you don't get ambushed by 10 guys. Even without a trade in, you should be able to walk out with a brand new Kirby for $800. Very fair price for the best upright, that will last a lifetime. Make sure you specify you want a brand new in the box Kirby. Sometimes they will try to sell you a demo model, or a return for the same price. Good luck, post some pictures, and tell us how it goes.

and yes most will take trades. The sale of the trade is where they make their money on the back end. |

Bring CASH, and offer them $750 with your trade. They pay $500 at wholesale, so they're making $250 on you at $750 retail. Be aware that since the Avalier is still so new, and they are just now getting them into dealer's hands, they may tell you to buzz off. You might want to wait about six months, when the 'new' model isn't so new any longer, to make your offer.

Pop in and see what kind of distributor you have. They might be friendly and helpful they might not be. Like all businesses there's some real nice people in Kirby and some stinkers...lol Price is also dependent on what you buy with the new Kirby. Whether you want to buy the extras like the Zipp Brush,Surface Shampooer, Floor Care Kit, etc Also whether the sale person you have in your area is a factory distributor or area distributor as they pay different rates for their units as well as the number of units bought. Don't just go with what someone says on here what the price is. But if you want a Sentria II you may get one at a better price since they want to introduce the new model and might be tempted to sell a unit cheaper to help clear older stock. Again this is MIGHT not will. The distributors in my area would never let a unit go below a certain price.
If you get on with the dealer they might be a source of trade in vacuums for you.
Let us know how you get on.
