It never ceases to amaze me how many Electrolux Model XXXs there are that are still around today! It's nothing unusual to see as many as a half-dozen or more of them at at time on eBay. Granted, some of them are battle-weary and well past the point of usefulness, but many beautiful ones still appear as well.

Just last week on eBay there was a gloriously nice specimen of the last version with the hammertone blue cover and blower ring. (See photo) It was gorgeous! I was tempted to bid on it, but I couldn't justify the expense right now. That was the same exact style that my Aunt Virginia (from Virginia!) had, that I now have -- one of the TWO machines I've found from my childhood.

And there are some older ladies who still use them. I believe I told y'all about the lady who lived a couple doors down from us in our former apartment who had a really nice XXX that she and her husband had gotten as a wedding gift in 1950.

I was walking up the sidewalk one day when I heard that very familiar covered "vooooom" XXX motor sound and the "whrooosh" of the rug nozzle being lifted from the floor. Of course I knocked on the door wanting to see it! (We already knew one another, so it wasn't like some stranger was banging on her door hahaha!) She said salesmen had come by over the years wanting to sell her a new one, but she said she wouldn't think of trading it in!

She passed away a few years ago and her husband moved into a senior living complex. I always wondered what became of their XXX. I suppose it was given to a thrift shop or put on eBay. But maybe, just maybe, one of the children with fond memories of their mother vacuuming on Saturday mornings might have taken it home. I'd like to think that was what happened.

Oh, I thought you had left them alone in the garage again and they were mating. I know if I don't seperate my Kirbys they multiply over night.
