I've been looking for a canister vacuum and I'm pretty sure I've settled on a filter queen. Only problem is I don't know much, actually anything, about them. So what would be a good one to look out for? I want one with a power nozzle.

Help!! :)

I am selling my Filter Queen if you are interested. It is in like brand new condition, had very little use, includes the power nozzle, all tools, filters, etc. I even have the original boxes. My email is in my profile.

I'm looking for one that's a little older. I like the chrome or brown power nozzles. :) thank you

For power nozzles I believe you'll need a model 31 or newer. I personally prefer the two tone machines like this model 33 I picked up for my folks last year. Machines from this period(Like the brown one you're looking for) are funtionally identical to their newer counterparts, but better built with far less plastic.

Thank you! Now time to start looking :)

Out of curiosity. What year was the 33 released?

I read somewhere that the model 31 came on the scene in 1961, but I have no way to confirm that, and all I can say about the model 33 is that I believe it came along somewhere around the mid 1970's, but the model 33 and 31 were both in production simultaneously for a time. Unfortunately, Filter Queen seems to have made no effort whatsoever to record serial numbers and respective dates of manufacter, so comparing serial numbers offers no clue as to when something was made. It all gets very confusing very quickly.

By the way.......

I forgot to mention that though the power nozzle was an option beginning with the model 31, not all model 31's or 33's will have the power nozzle outlet, so if you want a power nozzle you'll need to make sure the outlet is there before you commit to buy a machine. You can see this outlet in the photo above. It's the little rectangular socket mounted at the front of the machine just below the tool caddy.
