As a young child my parents were really bad alcoholics and we had a woman by the name of Florence that would babysit for us right after supper so mom and dad could go drinking...now this was not once or twice a week but almost every night except Sundays because alcohol couldn't be served on Sunday.

Well Florence became like family. She died this year at age 96. She lived a very rough life as child herself and her and her husband were unable to have children as a result of being abused. After her husband died she became a hoarder. The person that was her care taker toward the end had to remove her from her home because she had packed the house so tight that not even the furnace would work. She had no plumbing only electricity in one room where you could still find the outlet.

After she died they started the process of cleaning out the house. (which when i remember it, it was always spotless) They removed 8 of the largest dumpsters available from just one floor of the home. It was a two story with a basement. You could no longer get up or down either sets of steps.

The care taker is a good friend of mine and remembered that Florence was very special to our family. While cleaning out the house he found her vacuum and wanted me to have it. His wife was the person that for the last 8 years printed our newsletter. Imagine my surprise when they brought me the vacuum and it was in like new condition. A model 705-B Eureka Princess. Not the top of the line model but the next one down.

Enjoy the pictures.

That's awesome, so kind of them to think of you! Even if that Eureka sits on a shelf, it'll forever have that sentimental value! smile

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm glad that you had at least one angel to come into your life, even though she had her own demons she had to wrestle with. Adults should always attempt to exhibit exemplary behavior before young, impressionable children, besides, you only got one shot to get it right...so very important! It's truly amazing any children survive from the thoughtless, selfish actions of so many so called adults. It makes me fearful when God's tears finally dry....for what shall he do?!

Wow Morgan! Wonderful happy ending to the story, that machine looks absolutely MINT! I've never seen a Princess that looks like that, with that body style and the try that holds the attachments inside. Very cool!

Thanks everyone!

I am writing them a note this weekend and sending pictures. There are things in life that make you stronger and a better person. I have never regretted my childhood as I have always felt people were sent to me, people like Florence, for a purpose. My God works in and through many people and I can only hope I return that in some form to others.
