I found this at a local thrift store. It didn't have a removable nozzel or a Big emptor. I'm not sure if the bag is original to what ever this is but I"m sure the handle isn't!

You've found an American-Lincoln Super Sweep. Those were made by Scott & Fetzer in the 60s & 70s. They are very nice and very rare.

Is it worth it at 45 bucks?

The label on the bottom was mostly pealed off and it has a Kirby classic handle. Is it still worth picking up? Can you find original handles anymore?

Preston, YES, it is TOTALLY worth it! When you have something as rare as this, those are minor condition problems to worry about, & you find whatever is needed to fix it later. GRAB THAT KIRBY IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE DOES!!! Even if you can't find the parts you need, then it can always be used as a donor machine that you can use yourself or sell to another member or on Ebay.

very rare! I think it'd be worth 45 bucks. I'd bring it home, and try it out before I decide whether or not I sell it.

Preston,

Please try to get it tomorrow.

BTW, the Super-Sweep was also colored emerald green in the mid 1970s, and finally dark blue in 1976. It was renamed Super-Vac 180 in 1982.

Preston,

Good luck, even though it's only one day away.

Yes, I do see the handle fork from a Classic 1CR. Pretty much everything else seems to be original.

Gone. But some consolation prizes. I'll load the pix in when I get home. A blue hover stick vac. Are those any cool?

Drats! I think to myself all the time, "This'll be here until discount day, who on earth would buy this but me?", last time i did that was with a decomposing Kenkart, with it's tools attached to the handle in an 80s Kmart bag. $25 was not worth it, but if that was a Wards bag on the handle, it would've been a diffrent story! did i mention the motor ran rough?

I had seen the American Lincoln's posted on here before. But this had a different handle and I wasn't sure if this was going to be the same thing. The bag looks different. I guess I should have known if it looks like your Kirby buy it cuz it's probably worth a bit

Preston,

While I know you've been beat in getting that Super-Sweep, did you ever think twice about it before going back?

In my mind, I wouldn't have bought it because of the presence of the Classic 1CR handle fork. For me it is 100% original or no steal.

thats exactly why I didn't. I wasn't sure what it was but i knew that was not original.
