I ran on up to Vero Beach today, to the Humane Society Thrift Store, hoping to find something interesting. Well, I wasn't disappointed this time, at the foot of the cleaning supply junk rack, was this gem. It has the original cord with a round replacement plug, a minty green woven hose, and the floor tool like my AE, and the two wands. $8.00 minus tax. I haven't turned it on, because the motor shifts back and forth in the case. I will work on getting presentable pics up, when I can. Outside of the ELECTROLUX letters stamped in chrome floating over a red background, there is no badge on it, but N43820K is stamped into the chrome trim behind the bag cover latch. What a discovery!

Nice I wish I could have bought one for hat much. unfortuneately mine were a lot more. I was not hoping to spent $100 on 2 xxx but that was that cheapest I could get them for

This was one of my once in a lifetime finds, they have a few on eBay, so maybe it isn't so rare, but it seems popular with the vacuum people. I don't think you did so bad, it could have been a lot worse.

Here's the new toy

For the sum of $8.56, the complete set,(what I found)the floor tool is way out of proportion. The motor has play in it, shifts forward and backward.

Congrats on the find. It's nice to finally find something after many empty handed triips isn't it.

XXX in South Florida!

Hello Alan

What a really nice find! The XXX is about my favorite Lux and I have at least four incarnations of it from the earliest 1937 version to the 'last hurrah' with blue 'LX-type' cover. Your hose is from a 'G' and you will notice your Lux has ROUND runners. That means it is at least 1948. Now, check the wattage on the underside at the narrow front chrome band. The choices will be either 475 watts or 535 watts. IF it says 535, it is a 1949 or newer, 475 would ONLY be a 1948 (while still having round runners)in theory! So perhaps that will give you some background on the XXX. It appears to be a very, very nice specimen!! Great find! Enjoy it and feel free to ask any questions.
Rick

Rick, thanks, I will. 535 watts it is. The green hose is very supple, and hopefully won't leak. Pete, not to mention the Oreck portable, the Celebrity III, the Oster Blender, and another Corning rangetop percolator.

Great find there Alan....

Is that your first XXX, You'll enjoy that one. I don't know if it was worth $856.00, but every one knows their limits!!

No, I said $85,600.00 I thought. I found some money in a chair cushion, and cashed in a savings bond or two.

Oh!

Well, that was certainly worth that!

The rug nozzle may seem "too big" at first but once you get used to it, you'll see what a dream it is to use.

Photographs Don't Lie.....??

I love that rug nozzle, it is quite effective. It just photographed so much bigger than it is.

Oh, now I see what you mean - yes, the perspective of the photo does make it look bigger than it really is! "Items in your computer monitor are larger than they appear." haha

Nice XXX, Alan!

And you can't beat the price! And with the 535 watt motor it's quite a powerful machine, too. Congrats!!

Hose

That is a nice looking Model G era hose. It looks mint! Does it leak at all? Those can be quite hard to find at times!
