Hey all! I've been working intermittently on my Electrolux E, and awhile back, it fell off of a chair and took a pretty hard landing on the floor. It survived, and still runs well, but ever since that incident, it has made a high pitched whistling noise when the hose is installed. It still does it after I pulled the motor and cleaned everything up. I have checked everything over, all the gaskets and seals are intact and not damaged. Does anyone know what could be causing this odd noise? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Whistling Electrolux?

That's music to my ears.

It's common for an older Electrolux like a model LX or E to whistle when the bag is nearly full. When I was a child and I was helping my friend Jeanette vacuum, if it began to 'whistle,' I knew if not that day, sometime soon it would 'pop,' her term for eject. And my model LX (originally her's) still does this with todays bags.

What causes it? the cardboard tab vibrates from dirt packed in the bag. So don't let it bother you, enjoy the sound.

The bag is brand new

It seems to be coming from the rear of the machine, it does it even when the back end is off. I think it's something internal. Could replacing the motor mounts or gasket help?

Hi Jaker.

It also happens with new bags.

However, if it's at the motor end, could be a gasket as you said. Motor repair is not my strong point. (Unless it's repair of the model LX ejector.)
