A friend of mine came over last night who's never been here before. When he saw one of my Electrolux Model XXXs sitting in the hallway he just flipped! "My God!" he exclaimed. "That's a work of art and should be in a museum! Look at that beautiful woven hose, and all that chrome!"

He just couldn't get over how stunning it is, especially for something as mundane as a household appliance. He even got out his camera and took a bunch of photos of it, posing it at different angles. I've attached a few of them.

It was too late to run it, so he didn't get to hear how quiet the motor is. He's gonna really flip when he hears that!!

Now bear in mind, he is not the least bit interested in "old stuff," let alone vacuum cleaners. He's a true product of the 21st century. His place is loaded with all sorts of electronic, computer and audio gear. But his artistic nature did resonate with the Electrolux.

One thing he really seemed to have a hard time wrapping his mind around was the cloth bag. He =is= so much a "Modern Child" that he has never, ever seen a vacuum cleaner with a shake-out cloth bag!

His eyes really bugged out when I got out a polisher and showed it to him. "Holy s#!t! That looks like a 1950s flying saucer!"

Since he went so crazy for it I'm going to surprise him the next time he comes over and give him one!

I forgot to say, the other thing he really was impressed by was the quality of workmanship. He said, "I wonder how many vacuums made today will still be around 60 years from now."
