Hi, Over the last few weeks I've got hold of two Rainbows the D3 and D4. (I got the D4 as a trade in.) and a Hoover 652.

I've started to give the Rainbows a clean. The D3 needed a new separator as the old one had been damaged. I've been using the D4 around the house the past week just to be different. There are things I do like about the Rainbows and quite a bit I dislike. There's no chance of me becoming a Rainbow convert like certain members on here... I'm still very much a Kirby man lol wink. When I get chance I'll try and take a better photo of the D4. I was in a hurry when I took it's picture.

I don't intend on writing a list of likes and dislikes about them as I don't want to turn the thread in to a "this vs that" thread. These aren't my first Rainbows either. I've also used the E series as well. I'll probably put one on display at some point since their not common in the UK. Well it is something different to talk to visitors about when they come to visit my museum, using water to separate the dirt instead of a bagged or cyclonic system.

I do like this Hoover 652 and it's the 1st early 652 I've seen in person that still has the original bag on it that is in good condition. I've gave it a quick clean (Not that it needed it) I'll go to town on it when I get the chance.

For some reason I prefer this style on/off switch than the style that replaced it. I was surprised how slim the bag is when there is no paper bag in side the outer bag. I do also have the Hoover 652 with the later cloth bag which is grey with a red weave running through it. Not that that's in as good condition as this machine is.

I remember this model Hoover from my childhood as the church my parents use to go to when I was younger had one of these that I got to sometimes use. But the bag on it was a genuine replacement bag that had HOOVER running down one side of the bag & the material had a grey and black pattern to it off the top of my head.

Hope you like the pictures.cool

LOL gotta love pasting your pink copyright on every inch of your photos! tongue-out

Nice finds, I love my D3, I use it every now and then when the house needs a good, deep cleaning!

What does that cord on the wall go to in Photo #5?

Hi,

Alex. The cord in that picture belongs to the shutter that comes down when I close. I normally unplug it in the day when I'm open and plug the air freshener in so it smell nice when people walk in.

I hate putting my copyright on the pictures as it spoils them but I just got feed up with people using my pictures off here on ebay etc to sell their vacs. I know other collectors on here have had similar issues.

I never converted to a Rainbow lover, I have always been fascinated with them. Those look pretty nice too, I found a D4 SE with the PN2 at a thrift store not too long ago, that was quite a find I thought!
