We are looking at new vacuums and want something built nice that will last and clean good. Is there anything better than the M700 or any reason NOT to get the M700.

thanks

We sell Maytag vacuums in the Factory Outlet Store every day. They are awesome machines. If you want any more info you can call me at the outlet store and I can tell you all about them. 573-265-0680

My Maytag

This is a very powerful machine. Tremendous suction and good air flow. The agitation is amazing.

However, it doesn’t work well on my shag rugs. Is there an adaptor or something that would raise it up from the floor a little?

For the price of that unit I would consider looking at a Riccar Vibrance it's the same vacuum with a better warranty and more pricing& options.
Also I would take a look at the Miele U1 upright with the MSRP of $399.

Panasonic and "Carpet Pro" also makes similar machines to that Maytag.

M700

The machine is really good. Almost identical to the Riccar. It’s a little heavier and more awkward than any older Riccar I’ve used. It just isn’t very useful on my shag rugs. I guess I’ll use my old Hoover Convertible on the shag. It works extremely well on it.

No. Maytag (Whirlpool) doesn't make a vacuum. They licensed the name Maytag to Tacony (Makers of Riccar and Simplicity). They make the Maytag vacuums.

maytag 1200

You might have a look at the Maytag 1200, I think it's better than the 700 although I'm not sure of the differences.

@n0oxy the 1200 Maytag or the Riccar brilliance R30 definitely cleans better.
But they're very temperamental machines tandem Air Design. I would definitely go with a direct air machine over it. And that $700 you're in sebo Felix territory which hands down is a better machine.
