Got my Dyson back from the repair shop. It took Dyson two weeks to ship a new cleaner head..... I will probably have to keep getting it replaced until the warranty expires since it has a design flaw with the small wheel assembly underneath the power head. Tom, when is the Simplicity wonder coming out? I NEED a good canister for my hardwood floors since this Dyson isn't working out! Big surprise... ;)

Save yourself the money and buy a Panasonic MC-CG902. Not a sexy vacuum, but plenty of airflow and suction, real adult sized attachments (they are last generation Kenmore attachments that date back to the 1980s, not the kiddy toys you find on most modern canister vacuums) and the motors are durable. Panasonic has stuck to traditional 1 1/4 inch diameter wands so standard attachments fit. The powered floor brush is pretty much the industry standard. Use the money you saved to buy a good horse hair floor brush and a weekend somewhere nice. That vac has been in production since the 1990s. It's proven and very effective.

I have the Panasonic MC-CG902! Bought it brand new about a year ago and absolutely love it! I'm just considering something more high end and more maneuverable with a longer hose. The Canister unit itself is very large and hard to pull around. The next canister I buy must have swivel casters!

Rainbow has a trolly to move around on and will travel in any direction easly. And they also offer longer hoses if the standard lenght hose isn't long enough. good High end vacuum.

Down side of course is filling and emptying the water pan before and after use. If you don't mind that. It would be a good option. Water will stop moving if enough animal hair or dirt is vacuumed up but never looses suction/air flow. No good for cleaning up drywall dust or non easly wetable types of dust.
