Can someone give me directions on removing the lens from the Classic III beltlifer? I have the beltlifer out of the nozzle and have removed the label and exposed the tension spring holding the lens in position, but this spring is down in a groove and difficult to manipulate. Is the finger and lens supposed to push up so that the spring can be removed?

Thanks,
J

Ok, attached are photos of how I removed it. And attached are the directions from Kirby. I do not know how the directions from Kirby have worked for others, but I am doubtful using the directions they gave worked very well as I could not get the lens to budge using the directions from Kirby. You will see in the photos why.... = as you got to get the lens past the metal clip as you pound on it and the clip is set in a groove on the lens...

** What I will say tho, it is important to try doing this while the belt lifter is attached to the floor nozzle though if you try the kirby directions and pound on the plastic lens. Why you ask? = if not I could see the plastic tabs on the belt lifter break...

Mike,

Where'd you get that vintage Kirby Classic III service manual scan? I'd love to see the whole thing, please.
