I was so excited today when I got home because my Kirby 2C was in a box waiting for me. First thing in the morning I'm going to change the wheels and bag and I'm hoping I'll eventually find the original handle and headlight bumper. I'm going to have more pictures to come.

That is one attractive machine! I'm sure it will look even better once you've given it a spa treatment

I turned the emptor into a show piece because a chunk of aluminum broke off when I was replacing the wheels

No problem, if you still have the broken piece, you can take it to an auto mechanic, and if they don't, they will surely know someone who can easily weld the aluminum back together for you. With a little buffing, it'll be good as new. The emptor gasket has most probably gotten hard, you may want to replace it.

Thanks I'll try that. When it got rebuilt someone put in a extension tube and a hard gasket, it was on too tight from the start. I'll have pics of it tonight.

Here is the vacuum with its new bag and wheels, I know that's not the right year of bag but it's a start. The culprit to my heart ache is the sleeve insert, I do not know if it supposed to be in there I tried using a 510 emptor but it's too big.

Congrats on the acquisition! I rescued my C-R from trash pick up in 1972, same ear broken off the emptor, but I didn't get the piece. A welding shop should be able to heli-arc a repair, with or without the piece. I doubt the insert was original. Mine also was missing the original handle, but one of this winter's projects is to fabricate an approximation of the original, pics will be posted.

I called kirby this morning and now I'm on a waiting list for a new emptor they said it's going to be a couple of weeks because they are out of stock. I'm still going to get the old one fixed but I'm going to use the new one.

Kirby can supply an emptor for 2C? Most companies will laugh at such a request for a 75 year old part, nice to know Kirby will ship--

I got bad news today. They have discontinued the emptor and if they rebuild it they would not fix it. It's $350.00 to rebuild the vacuum. I'm bummed out again but it's nice to know they have everything else for the vacuum.

Sorry to hear that but Someone on here should be able to help you as I am clueless after you said one was too big. I would think the emptors from the 500 series before the sanitronics would work because of the 2 pins.
