I couldnt believe this....all it needed was a new belt and wiping off the dust, and its the closest thing to a new one I have ever seen!..I dont really consider something this new collectable, but I guess it will be in 15 or 20 years, I always liked these cleaners, so here it is...cost....5.00!No attachments or attachment caddy, but I have several sets of those..Notice the old style blue bag..The beater bar and brush are for all practical purposes new..as is the whole machine!

Congrats!

Don't you love a good find like that! My guess is, there was an upright in that house that was favored over the canister, all the better for you!

My taste runs more to

Kenmores from the late 50s to early 60s, But I like these as I remember seeing them new when I was a teenager..

Absolutely positively beautiful. Those are one of the four or five best canister vacuums ever made by any company. That hose is priceless. Bravo. Well bought.

ps: I'd rather have that than a free curbside Kirby any day of the week :o

did I just say that? hee, hee, hee

We might argue about cars...

Re Kenmore update..

I used it today for the first time,it proved to be a very good cleaner, the power mate really makes the carpet look nice and is very easy to push..lots of suction and airflow....sure would be nice if someone made something today as good!

Hey Kenkart, go try the new TOL Intuition canister. You'll be surprised. I think you'll like it. I do. You don't know a quiet vacuum until you have tried it. Big suction too. Just the wands are funky.

phil, hans is like me, he wont touch anything not vintage. he said 1980 is almost too new for him. and i doubt its quieter than an electrolux model g.

I do have

One of the new Constellations made a few years ago, Donald got it for me one Christmas, I like it, but I like the old real Hoover attachments better, and I have a couple of 90s uprights, but I wont use them, they were just good deals and very nice, 1 is a Panasonic..it might be 80s, its mauve colored, and I have a older Simplicity, but like most appliances I just dont want to use anything new...its almost a phobia, and no one will ever get me to like a new car, I may have to drive one for the simple reason of money...but its not by choice, if I won the lotto...my daily driver would have fins and pushbuttons, you can bet on that!!!

Lets put it this way..

This Kenmore is nice, but if say a 1958-62 Lady Kenmore with a power mate or an Aurora, or even a Satellite from the same era were to be offered for trade, I probably would trade, but for now im going to enjoy using a very near new real vacuum....I would not trade it for 2 Mieles, Sebos or 10 new Dysons...Ill also say, this Kenmore is so much better than anything offered today its really unbelieveable.

bnsd60m9200, I have an Electrolux Epic 8000 and the new Kenmore Elite is maybe half as loud. The floor brush is as quiet as that small Wessel-Werk brush I have, much quieter than the Powermate with my new Progressive (open box stock, too cheap to pass up and I need to have one in the collection someday). It is easily the quietest vacuum I have ever heard.
