I was scanning Ebay this evening and this Hoover Constellation caught my eye. I've never owned one myself. But I noticed there are two wires that appear to supply electricity to a couple of contacts at the hose inlet. Is that for an electrified hose? I always thought the Constellation was straight suction only. If not for a PN, then what are my eyes seeing? Thanks!

No, that's the only model to have its on/off switch in the handle of the hose. It was accomplished by low voltage transformer and relay. The contacts you see make contact with those on the hose end. Looks to be in nice shape! However this one had a toggle switch added after the fact. These were somewhat problematic and many vac stores just bojacked it with a regular switch.

I lucked out getting mine in great condition w original hose. A little tweak under the hose coupler and she works exactly as designed.
After much searching and asking around I got the original Garland Green floor tool, too. From Tom Anderson (or was it you Fred?)
